In flashbacks, we learn what happened to the heroes in the four months after the events at Kirby Plaza. Maja learns of her deadly powers at her brother Alejandro's wedding. Niki starts a Company-sponsored drug program but stops taking the medication only to realize that another hidden personality has emerged. Imprisoned by the Company, Peter Petrelli meets the now familiar Adam Monroe and we learn how he ended up in the shipping container destined for Ireland.—garykmcd corrected by destroyer_tr0_

Peter Petrelli is back in the Montreal warehouse, calling for Caitlin. He tries to return to the future, but is unable to. Hearing a noise behind him, Peter turns and blasts a bolt of lightning at the hand emerging from behind a mirror. The burned hand heals, and Takezo Kensei steps out, introducing himself as Adam. Realizing that the Haitian has erased his memory, Adam tells Peter that he also has healing ability and to concentrate on what means most to him. Staring at the photo of his brother Nathan, Peter's mind heals itself, restoring his lost memories of what happened four months ago...

Four months ago in Kirby Plaza, New York City, Nathan grabs Peter and flies into the sky. Peter begs Nathan to let him go, but he refuses, even as the radiation from his brother burns his face. Eventually, Peter breaks free and Nathan begins to fall, but is hit by the blast as his brother explodes. Claire Bennett and her father watch from the street below. Nathan falls to earth but is caught by a healed Peter, who flies him towards the city.

At the Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, Niki and Micah Saunders wait for news of DL, who has been shot by Lindeman. The doctor tells them that DL has survived the surgery, and that he's a lucky man.

In Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Alejandro Herrera is getting married. His twin sister Maya looks unhappy, and as the celebrations continue, she questions how well her brother knows his new bride. Later in the night, she stumbles upon the bride cheating on Alejandro with her ex-boyfriend. As the pair threaten her to keep quiet, Maya's eyes fill with a black liquid. Alejandro's wife and her boyfriend fall dead to the ground. Maya runs outside screaming, and realizes that all the wedding guests are dead. Alejandro is still alive however, and finds his sister, hysterically screaming that she's killed them all.

Peter takes Nathan to a hospital, then turns invisible to avoid a cop. Inside the hospital, he is knocked unconscious by a lightning blast from Elle. He wakes up in an office, and Bob tells him he can stop Peter's powers hurting anyone else. Nathan awakes in the hospital with his mother, Angela Petrelli standing over him. She tells him he's had a terrible accident, and he raises the bed to see his burnt and disfigured face in the mirror. Niki runs into Bob at the hospital, who tells her that she has reacted to her latent powers by manifesting a split personality, and that he can treat her at the Company's facility. Niki refuses to leave her family, so Bob gives her some medication to keep Jessica under control. Peter, meanwhile, is also being medicated to suppress his powers. Adam Monroe introduces himself in the next room.

Three months ago. It's Micah's birthday, and Niki tells DL the pills she's taking mean she is unable to feel any emotion, and when he and Micah go out, she pours the pills down the sink. In the Company's facility, Elle flirts with Peter as she brings him his pills, although Adam tells him he is a prisoner in the facility and they won't let him leave. At the hospital, Angela Petrelli convinces Nathan's wife Heidi that Nathan is suffering from a mental condition passed on from his father, and that whatever Nathan has told her happened was a delusion.

Niki has gotten a new job at a car dealership. DL wishes her luck, but after he leaves, Niki manifests another personality named Gina, and she leaves for Los Angeles. Peter asks Bob if he can see his family, but Bob says that won't be possible. DL is working as a fireman, and uses his powers to save a little girl from a house fire. Micah is thrilled that his father is a hero, but DL discovers Niki's note that she's gone to LA.

One month ago. Peter flirts with Elle, and she opens up a bit to him, revealing that she's spent her whole life in the Company facility, and that doctors consider her a sociopath. Peter fakes taking his pills, and when Elle has left, he walks through the wall and he and Adam escape.

Alejandro finds Maya has become a nun, and is praying for her soul. A policeman approaches, and tries to arrest them. Maya's eyes blacken and the cop falls dead, but Alejandro takes her hand and absorbs her power, then the two flee.

DL confronts "Gina" in an LA nightclub, and gets into a fight with the man she is dancing with. As she reverts to Niki, they go to leave but DL is shot dead by the man from the club. Three weeks ago: Bob approaches Niki at DL's funeral and she agrees to leave Micah with his grandmother while she undergoes treatment at the Company.

Adam and Peter arrive at the hospital, and Adam uses his blood to heal Nathan. As the pair leave, they are attacked by Elle and the Haitian. Elle goes after Adam, while the Haitian pursues Peter. Suppressing Peter's powers, the Haitian tells him that he works for Angela Petrelli, and that Peter needs to start a new life. Giving him his necklace, the Haitian erases Peter's memory and locks him in a container bound for Ireland. Angela Petrelli arrives at the hospital to find Nathan completely healed.

Today: Sylar and the twins drive towards the United States, Niki thanks Bob for helping get rid of her personalities after injecting herself with the virus, and Nathan arrives in Cork, Ireland looking for Peter.
