The Future Ruins Music & Arts Festival is assembling a line-up of film & TV composers to perform their most celebrated themes, as the credo of the festival is “The Music Tells the Story.” Musical acts like John Carpenter, Danny Elfman, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Questlove and Goblin are among those included on the list of performances for the event. After a decade of making short films, Sean Byrne made his feature directorial debut with the captivating and disturbing 2009 horror film The Loved Ones. We had to wait several years for his second movie, but it was worth the wait: The Devil’s Candy, which had its festival premiere in 2015 but didn’t get a wide release until 2017, was another great horror film. Now, Byrne has finally made his third feature, a shark thriller called Dangerous Animals, and IFC Films is gearing up to give it a theatrical release on June 6th. With that date drawing near (and 2 months after we saw a teaser trailer), a full trailer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Ahead of its theatrical release, Dangerous Animals will screen on the water at Volente Beach Resort & Waterpark in Austin, TX on May 31 as part of Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow.

Adolescence, Dying for Sex, The Pitt, and The Studio are among the top Emmy contenders nominated for the 2025 Gotham Television Awards, the Gotham Film & Media Institute announced on Tuesday.

Netflix hit limited series Adolescence led all programs with four nominations, including bids for limited series, lead performance for limited series (Stephen Graham), and two supporting performance nominations (Erin Doherty and show breakout Owen Cooper).

Max hit The Pitt landed three nominations: breakthrough drama series, best drama performance for star Noah Wyle, and best drama supporting performance for Katherine Lanasa.

Dying for Sex also hit in three categories: limited series, limited series lead (Michelle Williams), and limited series supporting performance (Jenny Slate).

Pamela Anderson has landed her next major movie role. The former Baywatch star has joined the cast of writer-director Sally Potter‘s latest project Alma.

According to Variety, Anderson will star alongside Dakota Fanning and esteemed British actress Lindsay Duncan (Black Mirror and Doctor Who) in the supernatural family dramedy. Alma takes place as a family gather to scatter their late mother's ashes — only to find that her lingering eerie presence uncovers long-buried family secrets.

Her London- and Budapest-based boutique sustainability agency aims to close space between artistic vision and environmental responsibility in film, TV, commercial and entertainment production.

Szemerédy said it was aiming to “help the industry see sustainability not as a constraint, but as a creative force.”

As such, Lpe will seek to help creatives and production companies find their ‘leverage point’ for change by building sustainability considerations into storytelling and budgets. It will help with decarbonization strategies, and work with companies to revise their slates and policies around long-term sustainability practices.

Williams recalled visiting 10 doctors over four years, trying to figure out what was causing her symptoms, including aching limbs, fatigue and chronic diarrhea. After she was initially misdiagnosed with lupus and perimenopause, a doctor finally found a rare cancerous tumor in her pancreas.

“If someone had fucking well diagnosed me in the four years I’d been saying I was ill, when they told me I was menopausal or had irritable bowel syndrome or [was] crazy — I used that word advisedly because one doctor referred me for a psychiatric assessment — then one operation possibly could have cleared the whole...

Filling a role that has been vacant for about two years, he will help shepherd 21 Laps’ TV slate under the overall deal at Netflix where the company has been based for nearly a decade.

An amendment to the constitution passed on Monday by the Hungarian parliament codifies a law passed in March that made it an offense to hold or attend events that violate Hungary’s “child protection” legislation, which prohibits the “depiction or promotion” of homosexuality to minors under 18.

The Hungarian government will use measures to enforce the ban including the use of facial recognition software to identify those attending LGBTQ+ public events — such as Budapest Pride — and infractions can come with fines of up to 200,000 Hungarian forints ($546).

Netflix recently unveiled the latest additions to The Witcher ahead of the show's final two seasons. After Henry Cavill stepped away from the show following Season 3, Netflix revealed that the series would be cut short, coming to an end after Seasons 4 and 5 with Liam Hemsworth taking over as Geralt of Rivia. Despite boasting high ratings and viewership figures, The Witcher has been the target of much criticism from fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels for making major alterations to the story. Fans of the books will have even more to be upset about with the latest round of casting.

The news of The Witcher's new cast additions comes via Redanian Intelligence. A total of eight new actors have been added to The Witcher for its final two seasons. Camilla Beeput (Dune: Prophecy), Liv Andrushier (A Play in a Day), and Laurie Duncan (Warfare) are the most well-known of the new additions.

The film stars newcomers Eloy Pohu and Maksym Slivinskyi, alongside Élodie Bouchez and Pierfrancesco Favino.

Rami Malek’s new spy thriller, The Amateur, is out in theaters everywhere this weekend, and it promises to be a new brand of espionage movie that audiences haven’t seen before. Oscar-winning composer Volker Bertelmann produced the music for the film, and Collider is thrilled to partner with 20th Century Studios to exclusively announce that the original motion picture soundtrack for The Amateur is officially out now. Bertelmann is best known for his work on All Quiet on the Western Front, the 2023 war epic that won four Oscars, including one to Bertelmann for Best Original Score. Bertelmann is also famous for working on Conclave, which was helmed by All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger. The Dune franchise boasts an A-list ensemble that includes some of the biggest names from the new generation, like Timothée Chalamet, Anya Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya, who are expected to return. The franchise also had Academy Award-nominated star Austin Butler in its sequel. Now, Deadline reports that Dune 3 might add another high-profile name to its cast: Robert Pattinson.

Per the outlet, the Twilight actor hasn't received an official offer to join the film series, but Legendary reportedly has a "strong interest" in the actor. Exclusive: Even as Denis Villeneuve puts finishing touches on the script for the next installment in the Dune franchise, the director already has his sights set on a new addition to the all-star ensemble. While sources close to the project say no formal offer has been presented, Deadline is hearing there is strong interest in Robert Pattinson joining the cast. Legendary had no comment.

The film already features an A-list ensemble that includes Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh and Zendaya, and many are expected to return. Even so, a handful of new roles remain and, as with any Dune project, stars are always lining up at the chance to appear in the Oscar-winning franchise.

While its unknown who Pattinson would play if a deal closes, the role is expected to be a significant one.

As Deadline previously reported, the plan is to shoot the film this summer. Villeneuve is returning to direct.

At CinemaCon, Warner Bros chose to speak about their movies that are fairly close to their release date. Rodeo FX – a VFX company whose credits includes “Game of Thrones,” “Stranger Things” and work on Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” (parts 1 and 2) – reports that it acquired Technicolor’s Mikros Animation unit following parent Technicolor’s shut down last month. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. It’s also not immediately clear how many of the former Mikros Animation employees will join the venture.

Paris-headquartered Technicolor was the parent company of VFX giant Mpc, commercial VFX studio The Mill, Mikros Animation and Technicolor Gaming. It’s closure affected thousands of artists around the world. Following its shut down, which began on Feb. 24, Technicolor Games was acquired by global language translation and AI tech business Transperfect. Also, a band of employees that worked at The Mill in the U.S. launched a new venture, Arc Creative, backed by Dream Machine FX.

A24’s The Legend of Ochi pulls back the curtain for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the fantasy adventure and the process of bringing the film’s weird little creature to life. Writer-director Isaiah Saxon opted to use practical effects, including puppeteers manipulating the creature that sort of resembles a gremlin/monkey hybrid.

“In a remote village on the island of Carpathia, a shy farm girl named Yuri is raised to fear an elusive animal species known as ochi,” reads A24’s synopsis. “But when Yuri discovers a wounded baby ochi has been left behind, she escapes on a quest to bring him home.”
