Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • A lot of the fighting is reenactment footage edited together with filmed footage. The reenactment footage isn't bloody, but the film footage varys in degrees of blood.
  • A lot of people die in this film. Some are graphic.


  • Damn & Hell are used a lot.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • General Sherman wants some brandy, but it's given reluctantly to a nurse to use as an anesthetic for wounded troops. A Union Officer is drunk in camp.
  • Smoking is seen in some scenes.

  • A Union Cavalry Captain may be a bit scary to young viewers.
  • A drunk Union Officer nearly kills a dog and drunkenly knocks a woman on the ground.

  • A Union Officer is kicked to death by a Confederate Soldier's horse, this is edited together quickly, but we see his bloody face. Kind of graphic. His uncle is later killed by the same Confederates.
  • A Confederate Cavalry Officer is shot several times in slow motion and even has his left arm blown off by a canon, but still he fights to the death. Very graphic & it might disturb kids.
  • A ruthless Union Cavalry Captain is killed by a nurse after he tries to kill a wounded Confederate soldier.


  • Shit is also used at one key point.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some of the ambushes are a bit intense. General Sherman has an outburst of anger that might startle some people. His burning of Atlanta is a bit intense.
