Trama

A manuscript for a new novel and a royalty check from his movie inspire Hank to go on a spending spree, but his purchases don't have the desired effect on his life; Marcy drops a bombshell on Charlie.

After the funeral of Hank's father Al, Hank comes back to L.A. with a new manuscript, that he wants Karen to read. After receiving a bonus paycheck, he buys a new car for himself and a guitar for Becca. (Rather than buying one from the music shop, they buy one from a desperate father trying to raise money.) He also gets a ring that he plans to give to Karen, but decides not to after talking to her.

When test-driving the car, Hank and the salesgirl have sex in the car.

Karen and Bill argue because Bill does not want Becca and her band to play at their wedding.

Hank gives his only copy of his new novel to Karen to read. She does not. Mia sees it and takes a copy before Karen returns it to Hank.

Hank's car is stolen, with the manuscript in it.
