My first question was why not just set this in England? Most of the big supporting actors are British, yet instead of hiring a gay American man for a role you cast a straight British one with an awful accent. Very strange casting decisions!
Celine was far better than anticipated, she didn't particularly show emotions well and she was a tad wooden with her interactions but she was actually quite fun and it was a nice twist to a normal standard romcom.
The only other twist I guess is the theme! Firstly the odds of it all are pretty astronomical that this would happen to people of the same kinda age, same sorta location, that's like lottery odds. But then if you don't think deeply it's kinda a nice story but for me, I don't think a woman would get over that, it's pretty sick to be fair, he literally stalked her, fell in love at a distance and then lied until he got caught, I just don't think it's a great rom com story and I don't think it works so that's a miss for me.
Then the guy, the extras are just ok, the lead guy though is just another generic Brit from these kinda movies, really pushing the accent, talking strangely and just being that awful American stereotype of what English people are like, like when they do impressions of people from the 1800s yet think it's British. He wasn't particularly likeable, attractive or impressive. Just ok.
The female lead I thought had decent moments but she felt more there for her looks, she looks a villa like Wonder Woman, she's very wooden, has very little chemistry with any character and her conversations feel unnatural and constantly forced, her feeling unnatural was something I felt the whole way through, ironically her sister was a joy and was a hundred times more entertaining.
Overall it's one for free tv, not worth cinema prices and unless half price, not dvd either. The only pull here is Celine fans, take her out then this is legitimately nothing.
