Storyline

After twenty-four years of marriage, Herbert is finally able to take Winnie on a honeymoon - the honeymoon they never had - with a little extra money earned at the store. With no extra money beyond that, Herbert can't, or won't, give Dobie the money for dance lessons, or Davey, who is home from college, the money for golf lessons each requests, both who vow that the lessons are for the economic benefit not only for himself but for the family. Other factors come into play, but most specifically Herbert being asked to sign his will by his lawyer makes him reflect upon not only on his mortality but how little he believes he has been able to accomplish in his life, especially in the way that he has run the store, which he now begins to feel is no legacy for his offspring. Herbert doesn't tell anyone what he is feeling, so he has to figure out how to get out of this funk. Conversely, others may be able do something inadvertently to accomplish the same goal.
