The Cybergate Opens

Power Rangers Beast Morphers

Edit

Summaries

  • Scrozzle executes his plan to finally free Evox from the Cyber Dimension and the Rangers, along with an unexpected friend, must do everything in their power to stop him.

Synopsis

  • Nate finishes the final touches on an experimental new morpher, that also functions as a small but potent blaster, as well as a set of new sabers. All that remains is to charge them with some kind of animal DNA, and he gathers his tools and tries to leave the base without anyone noticing. The rangers run into him, and Ravi reminds him he is not allowed to leave the base alone, for his own safety as the head scientist. Although Nate assures them it is not dangerous just to go to the woods and gather DNA, Zoe insists they go with, if only to keep him company. He reluctantly agrees.

In a disused warehouse teeming with tronics, Scrozzle oversees the construction a huge Cybergate to allow Evox to return to this dimension. He tells Blaze and Roxy the only other things he needs are a shipment of Morph-X, and a robot body strong enough for Evox to inhabit, which Scrozzle himself doesn't know how to build. However, he has just the person in mind, and shows them an article about Nate and his technological genius. He orders the avatars to abduct him and bring him to the warehouse, a feat they are confident will be easy. In the woods, Nate collects a DNA sample from a praying mantis. Zoe offers up a spider for the second one, and Nate nearly panics at the sight of the arachnid. Instead he finds a scarab beetle, but before he can scan it, the rangers are called to an attack in the city. They tell Nate to return to the base immediately, and leave to respond to the threat. Annoyed that everyone seems to be treating him like a kid, he decides to stay an extra minute to gather his last sample, and puts them both in his pocket. Before he can leave, Blaze and Roxy ambush and capture him with their cable attack, which breaks his wrist comm, and they take him away.

The Red, Blue, and Yellow Rangers find a robotron and tronics siphoning Morph-X from cars and loading it onto a truck, and they morph when he attacks them. A fight breaks out, and the robotron orders the tronics to take the truck back to Scrozzle. The rangers are held back from following it, and meanwhile, Ben and Betty accidentally drop one of their tacker tags onto the truck when it passes by while they use it for a "coin" toss. They attempt to recover the tech, but are stopped by the tronics dropping empty barrels over the side. The rangers defeat the tronics, and split up to try and find the stolen Morph-X. At the warehouse, the evil avatars bring Nate to Scrozzle. They remove the restraints, and Scrozzle tells the teen scientist that he needs him to build a robot. Nate notices the materials are his own stolen tech, and Scrozzle tells him he was responsible for the theft himself. He has everything Nate will need, and Nate realizes that they are going to use the Cybergate and the robot to bring Evox back from the Cyber Dimension. He refuses to help them, and Roxy threatens to force him, painfully if need be. Nate scrambles to think of a solution, noting his broken wrist comm. Getting an idea, he submits to their orders, and gets to work on the robot.

The rangers have scoured the city, but have not found the missing truck. At Headquarters, the Commander has been trying to contact Nate, who is unresponsive on both his comm and cell phone. The rangers finally return, and report no signs of the Morph-X or the robotron. Commander Shaw tells them that Nate is also missing, and the team become extremely worried for him, but Shaw reminds them that he can take care of himself. Ben and Betty arrive to report the last tracker tag, but the rangers realize that if it landed on the truck, they can use it to track the truck and hopefully find Nate. They track it to the warehouse, and Shaw sends them to save their friend.

Nate finishes the robot for Scrozzle, but has also secretly used the tools to repair the transport systems on his wrist comm. The tronics move the robot into place under the neural aligner Roxy stole from Ravi. Outside, Devon, Zoe, and Ravi have found the warehouse and confirmed Nate is inside. They try to sneak up on the building, but they are stopped by the robotron from earlier, Vacuudrone, who blasts them down. The rangers morph and fight back, but he keeps them from making it to the warehouse. Inside, Scrozzle activates the Cybergate, and Nate watches in horror as Evox starts to make his way out of the Cyber Dimension and download into the robot body. He uses his partially repaired wrist comm to transport one of the pistols he made, and shoots the machine. The overload forces Evox out of the robot before he is finished downloading, and shuts down the Cybergate, re-trapping Evox. Blaze and Roxy furiously order the tronics to seize Nate, and with nowhere to go, he moves under the neural aligner with the robot and activates the Morph-X flow. With the mantis and scarab beetle DNA in hand, the aligner activates on Nate before the avatars or tronics can get to him, and the room explodes with energy. Zoe and the other rangers fear the worst, but the monster prevents her from getting inside to help. The dust clears to reveal Nate, fully morphed into the Gold Ranger. Not just him, but the robot as well, which seems to have not only activated, but gained sentience, and morphs into the Silver Ranger to Nate, Blaze, Roxy, and even Scrozzle's shock. Blaze and Roxy Morph while Scrozzle retreats, and Nate transports the other pistol, which he dubs the Striker Morpher, and gives it to the robot ranger. The two new rangers hold their own against the evil avatars, who finally also retreat back to the Cyber Dimension. Outside, Vacuudrone has the Red, Blue, and Yellow Rangers on the ropes. He prepares to land a devastating blow, but is stopped by the Silver and Gold Rangers. The core rangers are confused, especially when they find out it is Nate is under the helmet, but the Silver Ranger reminds them they still have a monster to fight. In the Cyber Dimension, Scrozzle chews out the avatars for underestimating the "wimpy" boy genius, and sends down a gigadrone to destroy all five rangers. Devon, Ravi, and Zoe leave to get their zords while Nate and the Silver Ranger fight Vacuudrone. The zords fight against the giant gigadrone, but it's powers siphon off their Morph-X fuel. However, they are able to combine into a megazord, and eventually finish it off with the Cheetah Beast Blaster. On the ground, the Gold and Silver Rangers defeat Vacuudrone by firing their Striker Morphers in tandem for a powerful attack.

The rangers all return to base and debrief with Commander Shaw. They introduce her to the robot, who opts to call himself Mr. Fantastic Super-Handsome Strong-As-Steel, which Nate recommends shortening to Steel. Devon asks how a robot could possibly morph, and Steel tells them he is actually human. Partly, anyway. Nate explains that he was pretty sure the process would work on him with the praying mantis DNA, but the Morph-X also ended up combining Steel with the scarab beetle DNA, as well as Nate's own DNA, making him not only genetically half human in a robot body, but technically Nate's biological brother. The other rangers compliment them on their excellent work, and apologize for underestimating Nate's abilities to handle himself. Devon officially welcomes both him and Steel to the Ranger team.

Scrozzle surveys the wrecked Cybergate, and determines that it can be repaired. Evox orders him to do so, and also to bring back his robot body.
