Well, the 2024 crime action movie "Lady Scorpions" was not a movie that I was familiar with. And since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.
I am a little bit amazed with the fact that writers Stephen Carolan, Bruce Del Castillo and H. Daniel Gross collectively couldn't manage to churn out a more profound or layered script and storyline. Sure, the movie was watchable and entertaining enough for what it was, but it just wasn't a memorable movie. In fact, "Lady Scorpions" is a movie that you will watch once, then bag and tag it. However, it should be noted that if you enjoy the semi-plotless martial arts movies from the late 1980s and early 1990s, then you might get a bigger kick out of this movie. The movie was light in terms of storyline and narrative, and was carried by the fight scenes and action.
Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with Jeff Fahey and Cynthia Rothrock. The acting performances in the movie were fair, but nothing outstanding or memorable though.
The movie does have a fair amount of action and fighting, and it is essentially that which keeps the movie afloat.
Watchable for what it was, though I doubt that I will ever return to watch "Lady Scorpions" a second time.
My rating of director Bruce Del Castillo, whom also wrote and starred in the movie, movie "Lady Scorpions" lands on bland five out of ten stars.

Alena Moore (Cynthia Rothrock) is a drug enforcement agent. She has been to get criminal head Lucien (Jeff Fahey) for years.
Lucien warns her to stay away as he has a big deal planned. His wayward son has different ideas, knowing that Alena will not stop interfering.
He attacks Alena's daughter Lacy (Caitlin Dechelle) and then abducts the grandaughter.
Now both Alena and Lacy who are both experts at martial arts unite to find her.
Lucien is not pleased that his son has gone rogue.
Lady Scorpions is a generic action thriller with an awful script. Director Bruce Del Castillo who has worked on some Quentin Tarantino movies, tips a hat to films like Kill Bill.
There is plenty of action, Cynthia Rothrock fans would be happy. There is no denying that she is over the hill. The rest would find it disappointing. Some of the movie is just dumb.

It was tough to make it past the first two minutes. In the opening act, a 105lb pound woman with the physique of a heroin addict absolutely destroys two grown men in a martial arts style fight. I'm all about equality and giving women their moment, but this is just fantasy and isn't believable, not even with choreography and Hollywood. It's an insult to the average person's intellect to believe this is even remotely accurate. It's more of the same throughout the whole movie. 100 pound woman destroys middle-aged men that hit the gym and train MMA. Anyone who has trained in any fighting style knows these fights would last less than a few seconds outside of a sound stage.
If you like seeing emaciated women beat up men, you'll love this movie.

Cynthia Rothrock has aged: at 67, she can no longer fight as she did in her youth.
She has difficulty delivering a high kick. Not to mention that she's put on weight...
The film is uninteresting, the story shaky and the acting barely average. Add some annoying musical score.
I couldn't get to the end of the film, it's too boring to watch.
The 10 stars are probably bought, or they're people who are affiliated with the movie crew or producer.
Don't waste your time, this film is bad. But if you need help to have a good sleeping night, try it :)
And Mrs Rothrock should retire from making action and karate films.

I have no idea why the director producer or writer decided to make her the lead actress has gone to crap even though her whole life she's just been a television martial artist and has never for tournaments in like fighting tournaments so really martial arts was really for tv she wants some championships in form whatever the heck that is.
She can no longer fight now for TV either she can't kick very high at all so they've had to use it because it show this movie is not CGI. You can tell her they've had to use Body doubles a couple times for her kick because you watch her most of the time her kicks are pathetic, she could barely run and her acting is really gone downhill.
Meanwhile, you have the girl that should've been a lead actress Caitlyn numerous arts championships, starting at the age of six decided at the age of 24 to retire and get into stunt work, which got her into some roles. She's actually a pretty good actress. She is an amazing martial artist and you could see it in her punches it blows my mind that she doesn't have the lead role, they should've made her for her daughter and her grandma her mother getting information from her separately and her having the call and that's about it so just really having Grandma's voice and then maybe at the end the Grandma comes and helps this whole thing you make Cynthia the lead actress in this when you have lightning in a bottle that you're not using if you use it and wrote the script a little bit differently you could've had a movie that was like a seven piece of garbage so I'm not sure if Cynthia's dating or married to producer Director writer I hope you got something like that I was really looking forward to this movie and then I got very disappointed to.

I think the movie is great with a combination of action, drama and suspense. It is entertaining even though I don't really care for the bloody scenes. The lady scorpions are very talented and well-equipped with tactics for defense! I like that the director chose two women as protagonists and that they really nailed it! As someone who is a fan of martial arts and ninja moves, I recommend this movie to watch. I also think that the movie has some funny elements and so honestly this is something that movie viewers look forward to watch. And lastly, you can watch it in almost all digital platforms!
Looking forward to more of your work 😎.

This movie was my most anticipated of the 4 pack that this company is releasing back to back, mostly because it star Cynthia Rothrock in a lead role for the first time in a while. And on that regard, the movie didn't disapointed, as she is truly the lead (or co-lead) and have plenty of action scenes.
Is she still as able to move at 67 like when she was 20? Obviously no, but i was really surprise how well she could do for her age. She is still in incredible shape.
The co-lead Caitlin Dechelle, who plays her daughter in the movie, is a real martial artist and stunt actor, so of course her on screen fights were pretty good. Her acting was also very fine, especially for someone who has not starred in many movies (but instead doubled the stars). Even the kid actress, wich i can't find the name here, was good.
This one was for me the best of the 3 movies so far that i watched as they released. The story was more engaging and seem to have more stakes, even tough there is more holes in it than a swiss cheese. The vilains are very cliché and the plot seem completely out of the late 80s or early 90s, but somehow maybe because it dealt with a kid as hostage and violent criminal, it drough me in more.
Im not gonna spoil anything but i was left extremely confuse by the ending tough. Not sure if they want to set a sequel or they ran out of budget but i was like "wtf" and it took a point out of the movie for me.
Overall its an entertaining movie for Martial Arts fan, and its good to see Cynthia star in a few movies before its too late. I mean i can't see her being able to do fight scenes at 75 or 80, at least being credible doing so. So im gonna enjoy it while its still possible.
I rated the previous 2 movies released recently by this company 6 out of 10, and i would had given this one a 7 if not for the ending, so its gonna be a 6 again. But its the best of 3. Now the one left is starring Caitlin Dechelle on her own, and from what i seen in this one, it should be at least entertaining action wise. We will see in a week or 2.

I don't even know where to begin, the way the movie started off was the perfect attention grabber, as the movie kept going it was becoming more and more intense to watch. I found myself constant on the edge of my seat wanting to see what happens next. The way they put this movie together was remarkable all of it, the action, the moves, the script, even the music behind the suspendió parts made it even better! I can see myself watching this movie again just to enjoy it, with how it went you can tell there were no stunt doubles and it surprises me because of how much action there was. Everyone did amazing at acting and performing, especially when the ending came I was STILL on the edge of my seat wanting to see what happens next and found myself sad that it ended off like that. If there is a next part of this movie I would definitely watch it because of how good this one was and how it ended. I don't tend to get into movies as much but this one had me constantly wanting to see what happens next and I loved it!!

This is a fun 90s B action movie. I don't know who the moron is who said that the soundtrack sucks because the soundtrack was actually really cool! The directors song choices kind of reminded me ofTarantino. And this guy did work on a lot of his films doing camera work.
I thought the plot was good and it had some nice twists. Only thing that really holds the movie back is, I love Cynthia but at her age I think she needs to use a body double for some of the action. I was just watching child O'Brien 2 and even back then for the dangerous stuff she used a stunt double.
There's some scenes where she pulls off some good kicks but other scenes she doesn't get her kicks high enough. But if you're a fan of people doing their own stunts it appears to be her most of the film. And her co-star is a badass martial artist.
In the movie she plays an aging detective who's trying to take down this crime Boss so maybe fighting is realistic for the character.
But as far as the director goes I really enjoyed his style. And there was some good action. I don't understand the guy that gave this 1 star. Some movies can be just fun action movies, not everything has to be perfect to enjoy it. It doesn't deserve 10 stars but it doesn't deserve one star either.

Lady Scorpions (2024) is an action-thriller meets family drama with a crime twist, directed by Bruce Del Castillo.
The legendary Cynthia Rothrock in top form as Alena Moore, a FBI agent who is thrust back into action when her granddaughter is kidnapped by a dangerous criminal organization.
Rothrock, as always, is a force to be reckoned with, and fans of her 80s work will not be disappointed. This time, she's joined by Caitlin Dechelle, who plays her daughter. Their bond is key to the film's emotional core, and their on-screen chemistry is fantastic. Together, they make a believable mother-daughter rescue team, and their dynamic elevates the story beyond a typical action flick.
The movie never lets up, delivering expertly choreographed fight scenes that will keep you glued to the screen. In a post-Covid world flooded with action movies that often lack originality, Lady Scorpion stands out due to its unique focus on family bonds, perfectly woven into the fast-paced action.
Rothrock fans will be pleased to know that the fights here are as brutal as ever-no holding back. This is the Cynthia Rothrock we all know and love, showing she can still take on the bad guys without missing a beat.
Overall, Lady Scorpions is a fun and fresh take on the action genre, with a perfect blend of family drama and high-octane thrills. Rothrock's fans will find plenty to love here, as she once again proves she never disappoints.

It's so refreshing and fun to see an action movie with real fighters and no stunt doubles or CGI
Caitlin Dechelle is an amazing actress and martial arts champion. I've been a fun of Cynthia Rothrock for decades, she's incredible.
These ladies represent what any mother would do if someone takes their kid: everything and anything.
Jeff Fahey crushes it as the villan, as the cool calculated crime boss. I love it how his personality counteracts his son's. All the characters are pretty interesting I think it was a perfect balance of action and a good script.
The story is very engaging, I really hope there a part 2.

*"Lady Scorpions" is an extraordinary debut that left me completely captivated! From the very first scene, it's clear that this film is a labor of love, blending stunning visuals, an intriguing plot, and exceptional performances. The director's vision is bold and unapologetic, bringing to life a gritty, action-packed narrative with a strong, all-female cast that commands every moment they're on screen.
The choreography of the fight scenes is nothing short of spectacular, combining precision and raw intensity. The story itself is layered, exploring themes of loyalty, revenge, and empowerment in a way that feels both fresh and deeply engaging. The characters are complex and well-developed, making it easy to invest in their journeys.
This film is an absolute must-see and undoubtedly deserves 10 stars!

Cynthia Rothrock should team up with Steven Seagal. He's been through the struggles of navigating the Medicare/Medicaid network. Finding a suitable long-term elder care facility.
Back in the day, she kicked some serious ass and now she can barely kick above her expanding waistline. Watching these aging "action heroes" stumble through their moves is cringeworthy and sad. Using their name recognition to boost careers of other, 2nd rate actors. Best advice from their agents would have been to invest in real estate. Quit the acting gig while you were on the top. Not to end your career on lows like these less than "B" grade movies.
And yes, I've said the same thing about Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nicolas Cage, etc. Are you simply pandering to the Boomers?

Bruce Del Castillo did an exceptional job capturing the many layers of this film with an amazing vision and attention to detail. His work behind the camera was phenomenal.
The clever plot, an FBI agent going above and beyond to save her granddaughter from a criminal organization captures you from the beginning, leaving you on the edge of your seat anticipating what is next. It's a film full of action for all the right reasons: love and family!
Watching these actors carry out their own stunts shows the time and dedication they put into this film behind the scenes. The film was entertaining with martial arts and humor. The director's vision of turning a script into an action packed film is impressive and I look forward to his future work.
