Be Careful What You Wish For
27 July 2007 | by See all my reviews

"I wish everything I touched turned to pennies," Swee Pea says to Popeye one day. Sweep Pea had just found a penny and was excited.

"No, you doesn't," says Popeye, "and I'll tell ya why with a 'Popeye Phairies Tale.'"

This story wasn't that great but I did have an interesting thought. The king in the story (Popeye) one day was granted a wish by the magical "Jeep" and everything he touched turned to gold (a la King Midas). The trouble was that "everything" included spinach. How could he eat the spinach when he needed or wanted to, if it was gold? In the end, he has to turn to unlikely ally to solve his problem.

After hearing the story, Swee Pea demonstrates he didn't learn anything. Overall, a good moral story despite Swee Pea's greed!
