Based on the digital series of the same title, Gentefied centers on three cousins who band together to keep their Grandfather's popular Boyle Heights taco shop in business as the neighborhood becomes more gentrified. Throughout the show's first season the cousins confront their differences in their connections to their community, their heritage, and their commitment to the family business, all while navigating larger themes of gentrification and the marginalization of Latinx's in America.
Great show, honestly the first two episodes are the weakest and yet they're really good. After episode 3 the show really takes form, FANTASTIC storytelling, the subject matters are important and relevant; very well told and acted. It has so much spirit and I can't stop talking about it to everyone i know. You'll notice some people are giving bad reviews (not surprised at all) because the shows way of telling this stories while also making several points; many people are going through that and much worse and just because those scenarios don't paint SOME well "it's biased", these are the same people that love to remind you everyday 'not everyone of us' but when some else does anything 'it's all of them'. Watch it, love it y gózalo!
