When a young autistic boy witnesses the brutal murder of his parents and falls into a mysterious catatonic state a lovely young psychologist takes on the challenge of helping him. But her solitary quest for answers gets more peculiar and unnerving at each turn, leading her in a direction which tests her professionalism, relationships, and her very hold on reality. When I saw this movie on the shelves of the rental store, I thought it was going to be a high- budget Hollywood horror flick just from the cover. Fortunately, I was wrong.
'Prism' was both interesting and suspenseful, with rather good acting filling in for a plot that has holes here and there. The director managed to hide the film's low-budget origins rather well during the shooting, re-using sets that looked plausible and doing good work with the clearly minimal funding available. The ending, though slightly confusing, presented a somewhat-satisfying end for the movie. All in all, I'd recommend this film.
