Perfectly wicked and contains a likely iconic TV moment...
AlsExGal26 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
That obviously being the game of "Boar on the Floor" that Logan forces three of his family members/associates to play during the banquet scene of a hunting trip to Hungary. Hungary was the destination simply because "Nobody there cares what you hit when you shoot a gun."

It is King Lear gone mad. It is "how much humiliation are you willing to take on the chance you'll get a piece of the pie?". It is the other guests saying and doing nothing because at least it is not them being humiliated. It is the Seventh Cross. It is everybody in the room reevaluating their life choices, especially the one where they crossed Kendall during the "no confidence" vote on Logan's sanity last season. But is Kendall really the shell of a human being he has seemed to be this season? Or is it a secret game he plays of waiting until the time is right? We shall see.

The sad part of this is you just know Boar on the Floor is going to be the new hazing game that fraternities are going to put their pledges through from now on. And it will be all the rage at executive training camps. And a bunch of other places the 99% seldom get to see.

The tendency for life to imitate art, especially psychologically violent art, is probably why that Superbowl commercial ten years ago sponsored by an employment agency, when describing a current job you might want to leave, said "Makes you want to punch cute little animals" used a koala. No teenager can get near a koala. Otherwise there would have been dozens of copycats punching the animal in question with youtube videos of the act.

Highly recommended and as good as the first season finale.

Funniest episode to date
jdank3726 August 2019
This is one of my favorite episodes to date. Minus the boar scene because man is sad...what a tense, messed up, funny, powerful episode. Logan getting everyone in line via pure fear. I was laughing so hard I started crying when the sausages were thrown on the floor and Tom had his wrestled away from him.

Boar on the floor
evansjoshyr1 July 2021
The entire dinner scene is likely the best scene of the whole show at this point. S1.5 was an excellent episode with a ton of build up and tension until the inevitable vote of no confidence at the end. S1.10 was a polethera of scenes with great pay off twists and turns all over the place and a knockout ending. And those might be better episodes, but the best scene in the show up to this point has to be boar on the floor dinner scene. From the rising tension, to the opportunity for every character to express their personality through well constructed dialogue. We as an audience are just amazed and horrified at the lengths logan can go to show he is in charge and that no one can undermine his authority without consequences

Truly one of the best scenes I have seen in recent memory. And the episode deserves a 10 for that alone.

I'm from Hungary, I liked the episode, but...
akos9881 December 2019
Hey! This is central Europe, not Russia. Kind of cyrillic letters on the car plates? We have latin Alphabets! And gypsy staff? C'mon! (95% caucasian in Hungary. I know from the States (I been in 6 States) you know not much about Hungary... but the scenes "from Hungary" were just not real. Maybe that's how an American imagine it, but is not true.

Another amazing episode of season 2. One of the best episodes of the show so far. Brian Cox steals the episode with THAT scene.

Great one about an interview gone wrong and figuring out who the mole is. Brian Cox, Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong are my favorites among the main stars! I love this show very much!

Most humiliating scene I've seen
samii8u14 June 2021
The boar on the ground scene alone was scarier and more intense than the entirety of Whiplash.

Warning: Spoilers
This shows just keeps getting better and better. The boar on the floor scene along with everything else was phenomenal. It was hilarious, tense, and all around amazing. I can't say enough great things about succession. I need season three now.

What the fok is regular milk?!
cjonesas11 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3: One of the best episodes of the series so far. Logan is just out of control, "fruity", sharp-tongued and more than mean. His children and the persons present got one hell of a moment in their puny lives.

So realistic, so full of dark humor with lots of funny moments in between.

"How much is a gallon of milk"?! ..."Regular milk"?! , unimaginably LMAO.

A good episode anchored by one brilliant moment.
bayleykedar16 November 2021
I really want to keep these reviews shorter as I zoom through this series to catch up to Season 3.

This was a good episode, a slow-mover, that also featured one of the series' greatest and, also, saddest moments. A true reflection of the power that Logan holds and its impact on the people around him.

It wouldn't be extreme to say that Logan treats his family and coworkers like animals. With profane ranting, abusive remarks, degrading punishments etc. This episode took that to the next level. Kendall seems to be completely altering himself as a person, the man he once was, who we saw him to be in the first season, is now nothing but a very distant memory. It'll be particularly interesting to see if this puppet - puppeteer act between him and Logan will end happily for Kendall, or drive him off the rails.

I must admit, the writing is still stellar but the drama felt slightly lacking in this one. Still a good episode, but Cox's masterful performance as the family's patriarch commanded it to being a worthwhile addition to a very good season of television. Give that man the Emmy!

Writers showing ideological teeth.
bryanmillsfist12 March 2023
I really enjoy the show, but this episode left me a bit...annoyed.

Firstly, the idea that ATN could completely dominate the news market in the age of Google, Twitter, and Facebook is a bit ludicrous. It's easier than ever for people to read Al Jazeera, BBC, and other foreign sites in addition to the plethora of domestic progressive leaning outlets.

The idea that US has any "real news" is kind of laughable. US doesn't really have a news outlet like the BBC or France 24. It has partisan outlets that push ideological narratives in conjunction with activists and politicos.

Journalists talk of "dark money" in politics and rightfully so. But they don't talk of ideologues who promote and push agendas to generate passion and interest. They don't because journalists are directly complicit in this. They are part of the war for your mind.

Succession isn't the show for that. It is a show that focuses on the deeply cynical nature of corporations and the distorting effects wealth has on the families.

Over the Top
dawnoleary-669-6643129 September 2022
I love this series, and the writing is usually superb. But I found this episode to be the exception. Obviously a lot of viewers loved all the humiliation in the "Boar" game, but for me it was an indulgence; it went too far, way past what I thought these characters would've allowed despite Logan's power and their own weakness.

The trip to Hungary seemed forced in the first place-just an excuse to change the setting and bring in some seriously ugly animals; would they really all want to go hunting? I found Logan's racing around giving orders simply over the top and not funny at all. Just ridiculous. It pained me to see Brian Cox forced to do it. Whose idea was this?

So many Belly Laughs.
rich-fouts12 September 2019
Oh my God Jesse Armstrong and Brian Cox are officially having way too much fun on this show. Logan's tactics and metaphors are hysterical. LMAO all through this episode. Dynasty meets Deliverance. Roman's BS finally catches up with him.

Shiv wasn't kidding when she said monogamous marriage doesn't work for her. And she has great taste in her "open relationship" choices. Go Shiv.

Just hand Brian Cox the Emmy already.

Now I understand why Succession won Emmy!! What an acting of full cast, dialogue writing, cinematography and so on... And Boar on the floor scene is one of the best scene from past decade, now my expectations are very high for upcoming episodes.

Brutality 101
Hitchcoc14 September 2022
The whole gang heads for Hungary, hoping to get Pierce to rejoin the ranks. He was summarily tossed away like a piece of dry skin. Now they need him. There is another mansion, a hunt where wild boars are chased in front of them. This is the setting. Tom is engaged by the rest of the participants to let Logan know that they are against Pierce rejoining them. When Logan is told this he fumes, and that burning anger sets up a hideous display, not unlike something a medieval king might produce. They are forced to fess up in front of the old guy as he abuses them. And they let it happens because what they are getting from him trumps the dehumanization they choose to endure. Meanwhile, Connor, who is actually a bonafide nut puts out a monumentally stupid video, announcing he will be running for President.

One of my favorite episodes of Succession
JonyVeana12 January 2022
The episode i will remember the most thanks to the boar pig game, Brian cox deserves an emmy and Jeremy Strong too, congratulations to the cast and tje director who made some unconventional methods with the cast, Culkin (Roman) we need more backstory about him and Connor is just a weird individual, i don't understand the oldest son character he lives in a fantasy world.

I love this and let's see what season 2 will bring us.
