Zhenya and Nadya go their separate ways. Nadya stuck with her bureaucrat boyfriend, married h im and had a daughter, also called Nadya. Zhenya married and had a son, Konstantin. Both later divorced.
More than 30 years later, Konstantin ends up drunk in the flat where the younger Nadya finds him. He is there as part of a convoluted ruse by his father's friends to get Zhenya back into the arms of the woman with whom he shared a margical night. The waylaid son is the bait to get Zhenya back to Leningrad, now called St. Petersburg. One romance is rekindled and another between the son and daughter is struck up.

Almost all of the lead actors from the first film took part in the sequel, with the exception of Georgiy Burkov
- Burkov died in 1990, Liya Akhedzhakova
refused to appear (In the film it is said that she emigrated to Israel). Olga Naumenko
agreed to the filming, but managed to be in only one episode. In the future, the schedule of the actress did not coincide with the director's schedule and further shooting did not take place. The scene with Olga was cut from the final version of the film. See more
