Storyline

One of Himmler's grim Nazi relic hunting teams managed to unleash, but not control, a demonic force in castle mountain caves in occupied continental Europe. It breathes life into gargoyles, which terrorize not only the area but also passing allied bombers. Operating from Kent, first an RAF squad and then a USAF squad sent to rescue them suffer heavy losses. Crash survivors combine, advised by local resistance and legend, in a desperate fight against the hell-breed, with rebellious ace pilot Will in the ultimate star part. Written by KGF Vissers

Trivia

For most of the flashbacks, footage from another Sci-Fi Channel film "Dragon Storm" was used. The film was tinted sepia. See more »

Goofs

The two SAS soldiers are wearing the wrong colour berets, their beret pins are on the wrong side, the berets are pulled down on the wrong side, and their patches show them as being part of the current British Army Parachute Regiment 16th Air Assault Brigade, which uses the Pegasus badge to denote the assault on the bridges of Arnhem and Nijmegen (as seen in the film 'A Bridge Too Far'). In addition to this, the rank badge shown on the collar is a US Officers rank badge, and not a British one. See more »

Surely they could have cut in clips of Vincent Price, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi?

You know the sort of thing in which they have Fred Astaire dancing with a vacuum cleaner? I mean, when you've got Nazis, World War Two Pilots and supernatural creatures and they're referring to UFOs at least three years before the term was coined.... well, it seems that someone has written a script by channeling the spirit of Raymond Shaver, then edited the text while hitting himself on the head.

There is some interesting casting. The actors playing the pilots are as young as they actually were. There is also some fine cinematography by Lorenzo Senatore, who needs to be noticed by a real film maker far, far away from the Sci Fi Channel. These strengths cannot begin to make up for the overemoting actors and insane High Concept script. Next time, guys, make sure you add in the gladiators.
