Mamie and Claude Damon listen to music in parlor: 1st song, "Waves of the Danube," an 1880 waltz by Romanian composer Ion Ivanovici. Al Jolson released a version called "The Anniversary Song" in 1946; 2nd song "Juanita," published in December 1853 by British social reformer Caroline Norton; it was the first ballad by a woman composer to achieve massive sales.

    The Egg Market
I could relate to what those hungry prospectors were going through in Nevada during a gold strike. I could also see what an interesting life Gail Davis had being one of the few women of marriageable age in this mining town. Jimmy Lloyd however may have the key to heart.

In this wryly humorous tale from Death Valley Days Davis has a great food passion for eggs. So Lloyd whose made a decent strike corners the egg market, buys all he can get. For his quest for Davis the entire population of the town can't get an egg, scrambled, boiled, poached, or hardboiled.

Of course he wins Davis, that's a given, but eggs do do something they're known for and Lloyd gets a bride and a way to make a living without digging in the ground.

You have to see this Death Valley Days tale to know what I'm talking about.
