Emma and Joel find each other to be the perfect match, after each is dumped by their partners on the same day. Pregnancy, a crazy mother-in-law, trust and loyalty test the couple to make the right decisions.
"Sooloilua" is a story of difficult relationships and love. Emma (Saija Lentonen) is a journalist who gets suddenly sent to interview a successful conductor and ladies man Joel Abrahamsson (Kari-Pekka Toivonen). The interview fails but surprisingly Emma and Joel find themselves caught in swirls of love. Then Emma ends up nurturing Joel's demented mother (Kristiina Elstelä). And the difficult mother is not the only turn along the way...
"Sooloilua" is a first full-length movie for the director Lauri Nurkse. Nurkse manages to make a very decent job. He has had a great chance to work with the most capable Finnish actors like Kristiina Elstelä who is the real dynamo of the film. Elstelä makes a funny and touching performance as Joel's mother Lea. Saija Lentonen is sweet and subtle as Emma and Kari-Pekka Toivonen fits well in the part of our little pathetic-side conductor. "Sooloilua" is based on a same-named novel by Katja Kallio who has also scribbled the script. The result is a working, entertaining romantic comedy.
"Sooloilua" hits your laugh-nerve and makes you enjoy your journey with the three different main-characters!
