Montverde, FL town council voted to allow filmmaker Joe Lenders to use the town's name in the movie. The vote was in part due to the positive portrayal of the town, but also due to the financial contributions the film crew brought to the economically challenged town. Filmmaker Lenders insisted that many local resources be used to make the movie. Fuel and food was purchased in town and many local residents were compensated for the use of their property.
