- The film is a "Dennis the Menace" version of "A Christmas Carol", in which Mr. Wilson plays his own version of Scrooge. While Dennis has his own problems with the neighborhood bully, he does his best to try to give Mr. Wilson the Christmas spirit. He causes his usual damage and Mr. Wilson ends up breaking his spirit. Angels of Christmas Past, Present, and Future step in to help save Christmas for the Mitchells, the Wilsons, and everyone else.—Jason Cotton
- Dennis (Maxwell Perry Cotton) tries to inject his Grinch-like neighbor Mr. Wilson (Robert Wagner) with the holiday spirit, causing his usual array of damage.
Dennis's school has organized a thanksgiving pageant, which George Wilson has to attend because his wife is participating. Dennis accidentally sets a turkey free from its cage, which causes pandemonium at the pageant, starts a food fight & ends in Mr. Wilson being covered up with pie. The insurance company refuses to pay for the damages as they had included a "Dennis" clause, which absolved them of responsibility in case of any damages due to Dennis. Dennis's parents George & Alice end up footing the entire bill.
Alice is forced to pick up a gift-wrapping job at the mall to shore up income to pay for the holidays. But she has to beg Mrs. Wilson to babysit Dennis after he creates yet another ruckus at the mall & almost has Alice fired. At Mr. Wilson's house, Dennis uses Mr. Wilson's private stamp collection to stamp up his outgoing mail. Dennis is sent back to his parents with a bill for damages of $ 10,000. Mr. Wilson had insurance for stamps, but the insurance had the "Dennis" clause. The next day Dennis decides to imbibe the "Christmas Spirit" in Mr. Wilson by helping him get a good gift for Mrs. Wilson.
But Mr. Wilson only ends up falling & breaking his arm. Now Dennis tries to get Mr. Wilson a Christmas tree. He and his friends find one on the sidewalk & force it into Mr. Wilson's house by his window (as Mr. Wilson is not home). Later that night, Mr. Wilson is arrested for theft of a Christmas tree as it belonged to someone else. Then Dennis decides to bake cookies for Mr. Wilson, he ends up destroying their kitchen & sends Mr. Wilson to the emergency room for food poisoning. when Mr. Wilson is away, Dennis & his friends install Christmas lights at his house, which end up burning down the entire front part of his house.
Finally, Dennis meets the Christmas Angel in the park & begs him to grant the Christmas spirit to Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson has the Angel arrested for trespassing. He scolds Dennis to keep away from him & his entire family & says that there is no Santa Claus.
The Angel (Godfrey) of Christmas Past, Present, and Future steps in to help save Christmas for the Mitchell and Wilson families. The Angel takes Mr. Wilson to his childhood home in the 1950s, where he runs to his bathtub to put his neighbor's model boats that he thinks are in the wrong place, when the nozzle breaks and floods the room. The angel then takes him back to the present and sees Dennis's parents with not enough money for presents and realizes he has to stop. The angel then takes him to the future, where it's bleak and the atmosphere requires SPF 800 sunscreen because of global warming since 2019.
His house is abandoned, and Dennis hates Christmas and repeats what Mr. Wilson said to him, to other kids. Dennis is now old, lonely and doesn't have any kids. Mr. Wilson then wakes up to the present and spreads his Christmas joy around his neighborhood. Dennis wakes up the next morning with a tree loaded with gifts. Mr. Wilson helps Dennis's parents with finances and talks to Dennis and cheers him up with holiday joy. Mr. Wilson and his wife have a big Christmas tree in their living room, and his childhood fishing pole was brought online. Dennis races with the other kids on his new bicycle and wins.
The film ends with the angel sitting on a roof popping back to the north pole and the kids riding their bikes, and Dennis accidentally crashes into Mr. Wilson.
