When thick fog interrupts our heroes' journey, a girl and her Ninetales invite them to rest at a nearby mansion...where Brock and their host fall into a romance that could turn out to be ghostly!

It all starts with Ash, Misty and Brock walking in the mountains. A fog rolls in and then Brock is the first to see a beautiful woman who has a Ninetales alongside her. Ash, Misty and Brock are taken to a mansion. The woman says her name is Lokoko. Brock is taking a great liking to her but Misty suddenly notices something strange, her reflection isn't showing in the mirror. Then the Ninetales' eyes glow red (which they don't notice) and the doors on the edge of the mirror close. Lokoko mentions that she and Ninetales have been waiting for their master who has never come back. And Brock notices that Ninetales is taking a liking to him. Then Lokoko wants Brock to live with her. Brock eagerly attempts to embrace her, but even more strangely, falls right through her. Brock doesn't seem to notice that. And Misty and Ash pin Brock to a wall and try to convince him that there's something really weird. But Lokoko decides to take Brock in to discuss their future and then says that Ash and Misty can leave, then you briefly see the Ninetales' eyes glow red again and Ash and Misty are levitated into the air and thrown out the door. Meanwhile, Team Rocket was following them and decide they can find something to eat here. They come across a room that seems to be full of cookies, then a room of popcorn. So Ash and Misty are watching from the nearby bushes as Lokoko and Ninetales are around Brock, and something changes the appearance of Brock's clothes. Ash first thinks of sending out Totodile but Misty stops him and says that they have to find out more about Lokoko and this Ninetales. They search the mansion and then find a portrait of someone who looks like Brock, this must be the master that Lokoko mentioned. They also see an older looking pokeball and a diary. Ash reads the diary which the master wrote about him having to go on a journey and leaving the house to Ninetales. And Ash then sees that this was written 200 years ago! So they see that Ninetales is over 200 years old and Lokoko is likely a ghost. So as Brock is sitting with Ninetales and Lokoko, Ash sends out Totodile and aims a Water Gun attack at Ninetales which Ninetales dodges and then goes through Lokoko which makes Brock wonder what's happening. Another Water Gun attack is launched and hits Ninetales, stunning her for a second. Then Brock turns around to see Lokoko disappear and the mansion now looking very old. As well as the food that Team Rocket was eating revealed to actually be leaves. Then Ash, Misty and Brock see Ninetales go into a fighting stance and angrily launches a Flamethrower attack which they all evade, they run into the mansion as Ninetales gives chase and tries to scorch them with a few more Flamethrower attacks. Then they go to the room where they saw the portrait of the Ninetales' owner and Brock sees that this is why Ninetales wants him. Then Ninetales enters the room. Ash then says Brock's not who she thinks he is. Then Lokoko appears again and says that she and Ninetales want Brock now. Ninetales launches a Flamethrower attack, Ash has Totodile attack with Water Gun. But Ninetales' eyes glow red and Totodile is levitated into the air Ash has Totodile return to his pokeball and then he tries attacking with Pikachu, but Ninetales levitates both Ash and Pikachu into the air and aims a Flamethrower attack at them. But Ash was able to grab Pikachu and lean out of the way and then they both fell to the ground. Misty wants Ninetales to stop this madness. Then Brock decides to pick up the old pokeball, and says "Ninetales, return!" And Ninetales suddenly sees Brock as who he really is and decides to go into the pokeball. Then Lokoko appears and says she has waited 200 years for Ninetales to go back into its pokeball. And she is an illusion created by Ninetales and then Brock releases Ninetales and then Ninetales tells them through Lokoko how all this happened. Her master left on a journey and said he'd return in one month, but years passed until Ninetales was left alone to wait for him. She was hoping that he would return but after 100 years, she realized that he would never return. She wanted to leave this place after this happened, but was somehow bound to this place, Brock sees that it was the master's pokeball. And then Ninetales says that she had gained Psychic powers and was able to create illuisions. And when she saw Brock who looked like her master, she thought if he came to live with her, everything would be like it was before, but now she sees that she was wrong. Then Team Rocket shows up and scoops Ninetales up in a net. Then Jessie sends out Arbok. James sends out Victreebell who as usual, jumps onto James. Ash sends out Bayleef, who then uses Razor Leaf to free Ninetales. Arbok attacks with Poison Sting, but Ninetales reroutes the attack straight at Team Rocket. Then James throws Victreebell at Brock, Ninetales pushes Brock out of the way as the pokeball falls on the ground and shaters. Bayleef attacks with Tackle and sends Arbok and Victreebell flying back at Team Rocket's baloon. Then Ash's Pikachu atacks with Thunderbolt as Ninetales atacks with Flamethrower. And sends them blasting off again. And Brock shows Ninetales that her pokeball is broken, now Ninetales can roam around the world freely. Ninetales bids them a farewell as she leaves them. And Ash, Misty, and Brock continue their journey to Mahogany Town.
