Applegate Confident Samantha Who? Will Survive Network Cull
Christina Applegate is confident her TV show Samantha Who? will survive the network axe a second time, and return for a third season later this year.

Despite the cancellation of a string of ABC shows including Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money, network chiefs are keeping faith with the comedy show. Back in October they commissioned an extension to the second season.

And Applegate is hopeful the cast will all return for season three. She tells AOL Television, "No, no. They're very hush-hush over there. Believe you me, I try to get it out of everybody as much as I possibly can. (Laughs) All I hear is just, 'Be positive.' Tough times - with the economy, even networks have suffered immensely, so you just never know what's gonna happen."

Christina Applegate, Samantha Who? -- Kelly Bundy who? Christina Applegate is hotter than ever. Who would have thought she'd strike gold twice? Although Applegate suffered personally last year, undergoing a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, by September she was back to work and at the top of her game. Professionally, she has never been better.Samantha Who?, currently in its second season, consistently delivers the goods, despite its challenging premise: A once self-absorbed bitch, Samantha Newly, wakes up from a coma with no memory of her former self. The story lines, while intelligent from the word go — such as an episode in which Samantha discovers she's a virgin, albeit not technically — continue to get more clever. And the cast has obviously found its groove; Melissa McCarthy is especially outstanding as Samantha's put-upon friend. But the anchor of the show is Applegate, with her charm and spot-on comic timing. Applegate Undergoes Double Mastectomy
Latest: Actress Christina Applegate has revealed the details of her treatment after successfully battling breast cancer.

The 36-year-old star had both breasts removed following her diagnosis with the deadly illness last month - leaving her "clear" of any tumours.

After testing positive for the breast cancer gene, Applegate opted for the drastic surgery to significantly reduce the risk of the disease returning.

It also means she does not need radiation or chemotherapy treatment.

She tells U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America, "My decision - after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me - the only one that seemed the most logical, and the one that was going to work for me, was to have a bilateral mastectomy.

"So basically I had prophylactic, double mastectomies, people would say - three weeks ago.

"I didn't want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing, and squishing and everything, I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing - for me. And so this was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."

The Samantha Who? star is now scheduled to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair her breast tissue over the next eight months.

But Applegate, whose mother is a two-time breast cancer survivor, remains in good spirits - despite having to go back under the knife.

She jokes: "You know, I'm going to have cute boobs when I'm 90 so you know, there's that. I'm going to have the best boobs in the nursing home, I'm telling you. I'm going to be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table."
