Storyline
Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper are both brilliant physicists working at Cal Tech in Pasadena, California. They are colleagues, best friends, and roommates, although in all capacities their relationship is always tested primarily by Sheldon's regimented, deeply eccentric, and non-conventional ways. They are also friends with their Cal Tech colleagues mechanical engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali. The foursome spend their time working on their individual work projects, playing video games, watching science-fiction movies, or reading comic books. As they are self-professed nerds, all have little or no luck with women. When Penny, a pretty woman and an aspiring actress from Omaha, moves into the apartment across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon's, Leonard has another aspiration in life, namely to get Penny to be his girlfriend.

Goofs
There are 16 mailboxes but the building has only ten apartments - two on each of the five floors. Since all apartments are numbered by the floor plus a letter (the guys live in 4A, Penny in 4B) it is not possible that there is a never seen third apartment on each floor. First off, there are no apartments shown on the first floor. Secondly, it is possible that there are four apartments on each floor (two being unseen), and furthermore there is at least one more floor above the one Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, and later Amy live on (since the hallway/stairs/elevator scene is recycled for each floor).

Quotes
Penny:
So, what do you say Sheldon, are we your X-Men?
Sheldon:
No. The X-Men were named after the X in Charles Xavier. Since I am Sheldon Cooper, you will be my C-Men.
Howard Wolowitz:

Oh, that's not a good name.

Crazy Credits
One of the final cards to appear in the credit sequence is the vanity card for Chuck Lorre Productions. In keeping with his practice on
Dharma & Greg (1997) and
Two and a Half Men (2003), there is a different message on the card each week, written by Chuck Lorre himself.

Being a physicists, I'm unsure of what to think of this show; however, the chemistry between the "nerds" is terrific! It is great to turn on a show that helps bring me back down to earth. The show may be a tiny bit unrealistic when it comes to how "nerds" actually behave, but you don't have to be a nerd to appreciate the science humor. In the same respect, the behavior of the "regulars" is a little exaggerated, but is done in such a way which helps accentuate the characters' contrast.
So what is to lose from watching this show?
You WILL be laughing by the end!
