When Adam Reed first created Archer for FX eight years ago, it's unlikely he thought it would go on as long as it has, but the success of the show and its subsequent renewals have given Reed and co. the chance to make bold moves with their storytelling.

Sterling Archer has gone from spy, to drug runner, to dad, to detective, to coma patient over the better part of a decade, and its this last sticky situation that led to season 8 plunging Archer and the other suddenly-not-so-familiar characters of Reed's series into Dreamland, a 1940s noir fantasy world

Amber Nash on Archer Season 8, Channeling Russell Crowe and Out of Place in La

When Amber Nash started on Archer, she was practically an unknown in the industry.

Now she's a beloved voice actress who has set her sites on goals to get out from behind the facade of Archer's "Pam" Poovey.

Find out what might be up with Poovey during Archer Season 8, what Amber would do if her voice betrayed her and so much more as you read highlights from our interview below.

When I was at Nycc, everything was top secret, and we were all in the dark. They were even playing as if all the characters were going to be different, new names, etc. You're wearing pants, and nobody is calling you Pam. What's the biggest difference in your character this season?

I think you've got all the information that I think I can give away. She is going by Poovey. I can't even say "she" is going by Poovey

Channing Tatum Will Voice George Washington in an R-Rated Animated Film About America

Channing Tatum will be voicing our nation's first President, George Washington, in an animated film featuring a revisionist history of America. Deadline tells us Netflix will be pushing its first animated motion picture titled, America: The Motion Picture. The film is being produced by Tatum as well as the duo behind Archer. Dave Callaham, who wrote the first two Expendables movies, wrote the script, and Matt Thompson will be directing.

I think I'm sold on what little info we know so far, how about you? Everything from the Archer team from Frisky Dingo to SeaLab 2021 has been gold, so I can't expect anything different from this.

Two new promos show off season 8 of Archer and its unique noir setting

  • JoBlo
Archer is probably one of my favorite shows at the moment. It's funny, action-packed, and even has a bit of heart.  And I've loved everything creator Adam Reed has done so far, including his previous shows Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo (of which Archer bears a more than a passing resemblance to Xander Crews from that show). One thing that has made the show so appealing is its... Read More...

Archer, Season 6: Fxx’s animated spy comedy returns to its status quo

Archer: Season 6

Airs Thursdays at 10m Et on Fxx, starting January 8th

When it was first announced, Archer Vice, Aka the completely serialized fifth season of Archer, blew minds. The notion of a popular comedy ditching its usual episodic-with-bits-of-serialization format, changing the occupations of its entire cast, and completely changing the locale for an entire season was a radical one, though admittedly one totally in keeping with creator Adam Reed’s anarchic comic sensibility. The reality of actually watching Archer Vice was a little less exciting; the use of a season-long story sapped some of the series’ vitality and memorability, making for a frustrating week-to-week viewing experience.

It wasn’t a huge surprise, then, when Reed announced that Archer would “de-boot” back to its status quo for its sixth season. Indeed, season six opens with the status quo of the first four seasons completely restored – well, almost. In the

The Televerse #158- Make-You-Watch-athon 3: Samurai Jack, Frisky Dingo, The Amazing Screw-On Head

It’s The Televerse’s third birthday, and once again, we’re celebrating with our annual Make-You-Watchathon, where the hosts choose a series to make the other(s) watch. This year, it’s an animation party, with all three Televerse cohosts participating and choosing animated series. First, however, it’s another more relaxed week in TV, as the summer series continue to wind down. We kick things off with the finale of Sytycd and some comedy talk, including the premiere of The League and the return of Gravity Falls, and then take a brief look at some genre (Doctor Who and Outlander) before diving in with the dramas, including the premiere of Boardwalk Empire and the finale of the uneven first season of The Leftovers. Afterward, we kick off the Make-You-Watchathon with Sean’s pick, Samurai Jack, before moving on to Simon’s, Frisky Dingo, and rounding out the segment with Kate’s pick,

Cast of 'Archer' talks sex, drugs and season 5

  • Hitfix
(Cbr) FX’s animated spy comedy "Archer" has been a staple for the network since it first premiered in 2010. Now on the cusp of Season 5, the television show enters new territory as the International Secret Intelligence Service is dismantled and the former spies are now outside the law, attempting to unload kilos of drugs. At New York Comic Con, cast members Jessica Walter ("Arrested Development"), comedian Aisha Tyler, Lucky Yates, Amber Nash ("Frisky Dingo"), Judy Greer ("Arrested Development"), Chris Parnell ("Saturday Night Live") and H. Jon Benjamin ("Bob’s Burgers", "Home Movies") spoke with members of the press about the show...

Life of spy: the return of Archer

The acerbic animated comedy that shows secret agents for what they really are: flash, self-centred jerks

Secret agents are, let's be honest, absolute bellends. Good-looking, talented and wealthy, they exist in a bubble of ego that allows them to embark on one-night stands, lay waste to cities with their gizmos, and generally act disreputably in the name of safeguarding our freedom. The only reason more people aren't wise to this reality is because our TV and film overlords manage, via judicious editing and expensive tailoring, to make spies look alluring rather than arselike.

At least, that was the case until Sterling Archer came along. The protagonist of Archer, the filthy and brilliant animated comedy which begins its fourth season in the UK this week, Sterling is an immensely gifted, immensely attractive secret agent. He's also monstrously irresponsible, a narcissist, womaniser and bully; the likely outcome, says the show's creator Adam Reed,

Comic-Con 2013 Friday schedule: 'Game of Thrones', 'Walking Dead' among highlights

Though the even officially kicks off on Thursday, Friday is when Comic-Con normally shifts into high gear. The 2013 installment of the annual convention is no different, with several big ticket panels filling up the day.

Archer Season Finale Review: Teotwawki in Sealab 2021

  • TVfanatic
After Frisky Dingo's brief Mr. Ford cameo, Adam Reed finally got to do his big crossover episode with Sealab 2021 during tonight's "Sea Tunt: Part 2."

So how did Jon Hamm do in filling the shoes as the voice of Captain Murphy?

Murphy, like many villains in the Archer-universe, was hardly the most dangerous man of the night. Even as the captain threatened to unload nerve gas missiles against the eastern seaboard, it was Randy Magnum and his 3.5 gallons of booze that really got in the way. That, and Krieger's cocaine-induced gun mods.

Hamm's Murphy, despite holding a knife to Lana's neck, certainly redeemed himself when it was revealed he merely had a psychotic breakdown, lacked any actual missiles... and even helped the Isis plan their escape Sea Lab.

But, honestly, Hamm never quite captured the ridiculousness that was the real Captain Murphy. Nor did he really sound like himself.

Archer: 5 Reasons It’s The Best Animated Series On TV

If your friends are weak at the knees for Two And A Half Men, or earwaxing lyrical about what happened on American Idol last week, there’s a quickfire remedy available sans syringe, chloroform, or having to spend months finding new friends: turn them on to FX’s highest quality offering, Archer.

Maybe it’s just that you miss Arrested Development. Maybe you’ve come to the realization that there hasn’t been any quotable dialogue produced by The Simpsons in more than a decade. Perhaps in an age of high unemployment and over-qualification across dozens of crowded industries, you’re looking for something to fill that hole in your doughnut . . . alright, that was heavy. Probably not that one. Maybe you just need something to knock off half an hour while you’re waiting for the bus or something. If so, this is the best way to spend any half

Archer Review: “Midnight Ron” (Season 4, Episode 4)

After “Midnight Ron,” I’m wondering if maybe I was being a bit hasty in my judgment of Archer’s newly minted step-father, Ron. Prior to this week’s episode, we hardly knew him. To us, he was, as Malory put it, “the most boringest man alive” (but not quite in those words).

With this episode, however, Reed once again masterfully brings a new character completely into the fold, initiating him as just another one of the gang, so to speak. Ron might only be Archer’s step-father, but “Midnight Ron” shows he’s closer to his step-son than either of them (or Malory, especially) would like to admit.

Archer’s rapid-fire references still fly as far over Ron’s head as Archer did from his trunk, yet there is one thing they found to bond over: doing things they know will just stick in Malory’s craw (phrasing!). My

‘Justified’ Season 4 Debuts New Trailer; ‘Archer’ Gets a Premiere Date

Along with AMC, FX has spent the last few years reinforcing the notion that some of the most mature and narratively interesting television can be found on basic cable. Among the most popular and critically acclaimed of these offerings is Justified, the tale of a Us Marshall with a gunslinger’s ethos sent to his rural childhood home. On the other end of the spectrum is the spy parody Archer, a deliriously over-the-top animated comedy from the same demented minds that created the cult favorite Frisky Dingo. Both shows are headed into their fourth seasons in 2013.

Those chomping at the bit for the return of Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) have reason to rejoice: Not only has FX announced solid premiere dates for Justified and Archer, the network has released a trailer for Justified season 4 that ...

‘Archer’ Panel Destroys Indigo Ballroom at Comic-Con With Laugh Riot

FX gave San Diego Comic-Con one mean trick and a whole lotta treats at their Archer panel, but everyone left with their cheeks sore from laughing. A warning to the light-hearted readers, this write-up contains a large amount of vulgarity.

The one trick was an exclusive clip of Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) about to hanglide off the edge of a massive canyon, speaking to the Comic-Con crowd and insulting them for the vast amount of virgins in the house. The clip also showed Archer willing to speak freely about Season 4 spoilers and all that’s happened since the Season 3 finale that occurred in space. But because Archer was high atop a windy canyon, with his spirit animal (a bald eagle) the gusts of wind were so strong that none of the juicy details could be heard.

Editor’S Pick: Beware of H. Jon Benjamin Lurking in Your Elevator

“Goddammit, this shit is hurting my face…

Comic-Con 2012: Schedule of Headliners

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.

For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.

See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.
