This is one of those cartoons that a generation grow up with. For example, it was the first Western cartoon to be shown in Russia, and it got great feedback (check Wiki for this).
The show is about shoes. And people. Basically, the author gave certain shoes, depending on what they were, corresponding personalities. A clown shoe is a clown, a army boot is a sergeant, and so forth.
But all that doesn't matter for the main audience of this show. I watched this as a little kid (it was shown around the 90's in my country), and believe me, everybody still remembers it. It was short, sweet and funny. It had a big heart.
Unfortunately, only 26 episodes were made, but if you can find them on DVD, or play them off youtube, your kid would love them.
