The commune
jotix10018 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As the story begins, we watch a fight between a woman and a man, perhaps an unknown assailant, in what turns out to be a lover's quarrel. The man leaves in a hurry, but someone returns later to small yacht. Louise Dyrander, the lady inside, had thrown a bottle after the first man left. We watch as the horrified Louise receives an unwelcome visit that will end her life.

The police is alerted to come to the dock area where they find a lot of blood, but no trace of Louise. The man who fought with Louise turned out to be Micke Petterson, a married man living in a commune outside Ystad. Kurt Wallender is puzzled by what he finds, there are children all over that belong to many of the couples living in a sort of commune. Micke is taken away for interrogation. He denies having anything to do with Louise's disappearance. Micke tells about how Louise has kept her horse in their care, but Kurt tells him point blank he knows he was having an affair with the woman.

One name surfaces during the investigation: Oskar Ung. Linda Wallander is shaken because Oskar was her lover. They met in a rehab place where he was detoxing and she was being treated for depression. Evidently, Linda has not gotten over Oskar. Even though she had her brief relationship with Stefan Lindman, it is clear she still feels something for Oskar.

The tide brings in a small boat in which the bloody remains of Louise Dyrander lies. In going over the contents of her purse, Nyberg finds a sort of pendant with a red line drawn in it. Anki Hedman, the wife of another member of the commune is killed at the stable Above the place where she is found someone painted two parallel stripes on the wall, something that leads the investigating team to believe she is the victim number two. Later, one of the children of another member comes home with three red stripes painted in his sweater.

Wallander and his team get lucky when the five principals of the group are tied to an unsolved heist where the money was never found. There is a man that had a brush with Stefan that evidently has some reason for going after the commune. This man is the missing link from the unsolved mystery and he has reasons for coming after the people that double crossed him.

Stefan Apelgren directed this chapter in the 'Wallander' series, which was written by Nicklas Rockstrom. The episode has a lot going on to keep the audience trying to solve the puzzle it presents. Krister Henriksson makes a good Kurt Wallander. Joanna Sallstrom, who plays Linda, has the best moments in this installment when she has to confront her past and a man she clearly loved during a crisis in her life.

An old lover and careless talk...
Tweekums14 December 2009
Once again this series does not disappoint with another story that is gripping and has a personal element as one of the suspects/potential victims is former lover of Linda, from the time before she joined the police. The episode opens with a couple arguing on board a boat and after the man departs somebody turns up and murdered the woman; was it the man returning or somebody else and if it was somebody else what was their motive?

The chief suspect lives on a commune where Linda is surprised to find an old boy friend, as the investigate the case she lets slip some details which will have serious consequences for both Linda and the people of the commune. As always the acting is good and while the story is perhaps a little far fetched it doesn't cross the boundaries of believability.

The Commune Murders
Hitchcoc24 November 2015
This begins with the investigation of a murder aboard a houseboat. A woman has been brutally stabbed with a broken bottle. All roads in the investigation lead to a commune/farm where several families live. Someone begins murdering. They are terribly close mouthed about things. One of the suspects is a former lover of Linda's from when she was being treated for depression. Soon there is a threat from the outside, involving a prisoner who is now out but is seeking money from his former companions. He is psychotic and bitter from his long sentence. Linda is little help in that she still has feeling for the one suspect. As it turns out, it is a complex mess of connections and personalities. Suffice it to say that everyone is living in fear for his or her life as well as those of the commune children.
