Storyline

Adam survives the assassination attempt by Angela Wells but while he is in hospital recovering, major terrorist attacks are directed against fuel depots crippling British industry and the standard of living. Just as Adam is released from hospital, some people start to die of a strange bacteriological infection spreading panic in the general population. Working with MI-6 chief Michael Collingwood and one of his agents, Ros Myers, Harry Pearce comes to the conclusion that there is a move within certain parts of the British government and civil service to bring in a new political and administrative order. Jo is sent to keep an eye on the Prime Minister's son, a university student, and others in the section take on new roles. One member of the MI-5 team does not survive and it is apparent that the conspirators will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Meanwhile, Adam hires a nanny, Jenny, to take care of Wes.
