Abbott and Costello raise a garden
8 August 2019 | by JordanThomasHallSee all my reviews

Lou struggles to set up an ironing board in the apartment. Bud arrives to announce he has gotten jobs for both of them at Caraway's Nursery. They bungle customer's requests at the lawn and garden store and are fired. A neighbor, Bill Hart (Dick Wessel) tells them that a big American seed company is giving away $1,000 for the best home garden raised by any local citizen. They decide to raise a garden for the contest in the back yard of the apartment house. Mr. Fields agrees if they split 50/50 on the vegetables raised. Bud wrecks Lou's hard work by pulling up a large root. In starting over they hit a buried water hose. They plan to remove a large stump by blasting it with a box of dynamite. Lou works to keep Bill's chickens from entering through the fence to eat his freshly planted seeds. Tensions rise between the neighbors, and as the fuse to the dynamite burns.
