Black Widow Movie Narrows in on Three Different Directors

We reported last month that Marvel has looked at over 65 directors as possible candidates to take the helm on their highly-anticipated Black Widow movie, and now a new report claims there may be a front runner. Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland (Lore) is reportedly one of the contenders on the studio's "short list". Amma Asante, known for her movie Belle and Maggie Betts, who directed Novitiate, are the other two top contenders. All three have met with Marvel's Kevin Feige and Scarlett Johansson, whittled down from a list of 49 hopefuls. There is no indication as to when a final decision may be made on who will take the helm on this long-awaited project, but progress is being made.

The last update we got on this Black Widow move was just under a month ago, when a report claimed that production would begin at some point next year, with the studio also

Chris Pratt assures fans that Avengers 4 “has your back”

Chris Pratt has promised fans of the franchise that Avengers 4 “has your back” and also comments on the cast for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Thanks to the colossal success of Avengers: Infinity War, the sequel, Avengers 4, is already a hugely anticipated event, with audiences excited (and nervous) to see just what will happen following the recent dramatic events.

Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord, is himself in a rather precarious position (being erased from existence by Thanos), but during a recent interview with MTV (ComicBook.com), the actor assured fans that Avengers 4 won’t let them down:

“My call time [for Avengers 4]? Don’t have one, so pretty cool,” Pratt said. “You don’t want to ask too much because you don’t want to poke inside the gift that’s under the tree. Just wait, you’ll see. Just wait, you’ll see. We got your back, baby.”

Regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

Marvel Eyes Female Helmers For ‘Black Widow’ Film: Watch For Cate Shortland

Marvel Eyes Female Helmers For ‘Black Widow’ Film: Watch For Cate Shortland
Update: A little more input on the Black Widow director search. I hear Cate Shortland, but sources said not to count out Amma Asante (Belle) and Maggie Betts (Novitiate) who round out the top three contenders culled from a field of 49. It was Shortland, Assante and Betts who met recently with Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Scarlett Johansson. Earlier: Biding its time by putting her in The Avengers and other superhero titles, Marvel is moving forward with a Black Widow film with…

Fox Accepts Disney's $71B Bid Following Comcast's Latest Offer

Fox has agreed to a higher $71 billion offer from Disney, making Comcast's recent $65 billion bid obsolete. Is this battle of the media titans finally over? The short answer is probably yes, but the longer answer is no, however unlikely it is that Comcast could somehow manage to get back into the race in any meaningful way. The Mouse House proved to be too much and it looks like Disney will indeed get the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool, among many other important media assets.

According to a new report, Disney sweetened their original $52.4 billion deal for 21st Century Fox's media assets following a higher, unsolicited bid from Comcast. Fox has agreed to the offer and that may well be that. Comcast could come back with a counteroffer, but their $65 billion offer was all in cash and was going to put the company heavily in debt.

Josh Brolin keen to return as Thanos after Avengers 4

We know that Josh Brolin will be reprising the role of Thanos for next year’s as-yet-untitled Avengers: Infinity War follow-up, but the actor has now revealed to Screen Rant that he’s hoping to get the opportunity to bring the Mad Titan back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase Four or beyond.

During a press junket for his new film Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Brolin was asked about the possibility of Thanos appearing in the recently-revealed Eternals movie, and while he wasn’t aware of that particular project, he did express his keen interest in continuing the villain’s story:

“Yeah, you know what, I don’t know what the future brings and who knows, but love the idea of something infinite like this. I’ve never been involved in sequels. The fact that we’ve done some of Avengers 2, oh sorry, Avengers 4 but Infinity War 2, I’m going back.

Leaked Avengers 4 Details Reveal How the Avengers Defeat Thanos?

Leaked Avengers 4 Details Reveal How the Avengers Defeat Thanos?
Clearing up a lot of the mystery surrounding next year's Avengers 4, Redditor abigfriend has revealed what they claim to be leaked plot details about Avengers 4. While these sort of leaks tend to be hit or miss on whether or not they are true, the information revealed matches up perfectly with the other movies in the franchise and of the leaked set pictures. Regardless, all of these "leaked" details should be taken with a grain of Peter Parker soul dust. Warning: potential spoilers for Avengers 4 lie ahead.

According to the Redditor, the main plot of Avengers 4 will feature the remaining Avengers travelling back in time using Hank Pym's Quantum Realm technology that will be introduced in Ant-Man & The Wasp next month in order to retrieve the Infinity Stones before they got into the hands of Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War. However, Thanos will learn about their plan and will start following

Will Jurassic World 2 Devour the Summer Box Office?

Will Jurassic World 2 Devour the Summer Box Office?
After an utterly disappointing Memorial Day holiday weekend and the first frame in June, the summer box office has slowly but surely started to rebound in the past few weeks. Ocean's 8 put up a strong debut of $41.6 million two weeks ago, and last weekend, The Incredibles 2 set a new box office record with a whopping $182.6 million, the highest debut ever for an animated movie, shattering the previous record of $135 million by Finding Dory. Even if The Incredibles 2 pulls off a minimal drop it will still fall to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, with a projected debut of $193.7 million.

We made this opening weekend projection back in May with our summer box office predictions list, but when the first round of predictions from other analysts surfaced later that month, they put this epic sequel's opening weekend between $140 million and $150 million. We're still sticking with our original prediction, though, which would be an

10 Actors Who Regretted Being X-Men Movies (And 15 Who Adored Them)

Before there was Christopher Nolan’s game-changing Batman trilogy or the Marvel Cinematic Universe tackled The Avengers, there was X-Men.

Beginning in 2000 with Bryan Singer’s X-Men, the franchise was one of the American movie industry’s first move into more serious and grounded superhero film adaptations and set new standards for cinematic depictions of superpowered heroes.

The franchise continues to grow to this day past the original X-Men trilogy of the early 2000s. X-Men: First Class started the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s explorations of what young Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto went through in the form of a prequel series.

Meanwhile, movies like The Wolverine and Deadpool saw the franchise expand into more character-focused spin-offs.

As unique and entertaining an experience the X-Men movies are for fans watching the movies in theaters, the franchise is even more so for many actors involved in it.

A number of stars

Avengers 4 – every character confirmed and rumoured to appear in the Infinity War sequel

Avengers: Infinity War delivered a lot of shocking twists and turns as we not only saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes lose to Thanos but at least half of our favourite characters ended up turning to dust after the Mad Titan snapped his fingers and wiped out trillions of lives. How the team will recover in order to try and make things right remains to be seen, especially as Avengers 4 is currently shrouded in such a great deal of secrecy.

However, while the plot of the movie is being guarded by Marvel’s formidable team of snipers, we actually know of a number of characters who are confirmed to appear in the sequel thanks to set photos, interviews, and various other pieces of leaked intel.

There are also a lot of heroes and villains who are rumoured to appear in Avengers 4 and we’re going to kick things off by taking a look at them.

Brie Larson says Captain Marvel is powerful enough to move planets

We’ve already heard from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige that Captain Marvel is “by far the most powerful character we’ve ever introduced” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the latest comments from actress Brie Larson certainly support that notion.

“She’s so strong,” Larson told Live from the Red Carpet when asked about Carol Danvers’ power levels. “She can move planets! So, to me, it’s like how far can I go with this strength?”

Larson is set to make her debut as Carol Danvers this coming March in the 90s-set Captain Marvel, before joining the fight against Thanos in the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4 in May. And, with that kind of power at her disposal, it seems the Mad Titan may have met his match, Infinity Gauntlet or not.

Jeremy Renner says the Russos received death threats over Hawkeye’s Avengers: Infinity War absence

Throughout the promotional campaign for Avengers: Infinity War, it became increasingly clear that Hawkeye would be sitting out the battle between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos, and sure enough Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton was nowhere to be seen when the superhero blockbuster finally made its way into theaters.

Naturally, Hawkeye’s absence left fans of the character disappointed, but it seems that some took it a step further (and a step too far), with Renner revealing to USA Today that directors Anthony and Joe Russo actually ended up receiving death threats:

“It’s a nice feeling, I suppose,” said Renner when asked for his thoughts on the fan support for Hawkeye. “I think the Russo brothers got way too many death threats. I’m like, ‘Wow, dude, that’s intense. I’m sorry.'”

The Russos have previously revealed that they have “a very specific story” in mind for Hawkeye,

21 Crazy Things Only True Fans Know About Black Widow And Daredevil’s Relationship

It’s always a strange thing in the world of superheroes when romance inserts itself into the breaks between flying, smashing, fighting and saving the day. Virtually every major metahuman character has had a significant other at some point in their crimefighting (or crime-promoting) careers. It takes on an entirely new dimension when one super person decides to start coupling with another super person.

Perhaps the most anticipated wedding of 2018 stands out: Batman tying the knot with none other than Catwoman. Less discussed is the lost-to-time relationship between Daredevil and Black Widow.

While the divide between the Netflix Defenders universe and the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe where The Avengers reside keeps these two apart on screen, they share a greater bond in the comic books pages. It’s such a perfect power couple that even Daredevil star Charlie Cox has openly lobbied for Natasha Romanoff to come to Netflix to

Pinar Toprak to score Captain Marvel, becomes the McU’s first female composer

Next year will see Marvel unleashes its first female-fronted superhero movie Captain Marvel, which also happens to have the studio’s first female director, and now we have word that it will also mark the first Marvel movie to be scored by a female composer.

Pinar Toprak, whose credits include the Superman prequel series Krypton, hugely-popular video game Fortnite, and additional music on Justice League, has revealed via Instagram that she will be producing the score for the Brie Larson-headlined superhero blockbuster.

“I’m so thrilled to finally announce that I will be scoring the upcoming Captain Marvel!,” writes Toprak. “It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe. So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude. I have so many people to thank for helping me on this journey but first and foremost, my incredible agents Laura Engel and

25 Superhero Projects In Development (That Aren’t Part Of The McU Or Dceu)

Over the past decade, superhero movies have become wildly more popular at the box office, heavily due to the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man in 2008, and the eventual release of The Avengers in 2012, which arguably revolutionized the entire movie industry.

Today, the superhero genre is dominated by both the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which releases about three new movies every year, and the "DC Extended Universe," which is not as critically successful as the Marvel movies, but still picks up a lot of attention due to the inclusion of Batman and Superman, among other universally iconic heroes.

Even though these two massive franchises are seemingly stealing the spotlight in the superhero movie industry, there are still a number of other superhero movies coming out in the next few years that won't be part of the McU or Dceu.

Shockingly, there are even a plethora of these movies

Avengers: Infinity War Screenwriters Explain How To Fix The Dceu

Now, before you get your hopes up…this is only a plan in theory. Avengers: Infinity War‘s screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were merely speculating when being interrogated by comic book film fans at a live version of Kevin Smith’s Fat Man on Batman show. Still, it’s exciting to think about.

Having written each Captain America film in the McU, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, they’ve certainly got the pedigree to offer some sage advice. If anyone’s listening, that is.

Whichever side you come down on with regards to the Dceu, it’s clear that Warner Bros. aren’t where they want to be in relation to their “friendly rivalry” with Marvel. As such, Markus advised that they should only look to the House of Ideas “out of necessity,” as their situations are vastly different. For instance, Kevin Feige and co.

The Russos say “don’t expect everything to move forward in a linear fashion in the Marvel universe” after Avengers: Infinity War

As we already know, the next batch of Marvel movies will include Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Panther 2, so although Marvel Studios wiped out half of its roster of superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War with Thanos’ snap, the expectation is that most – if not all – of the characters who turned to dust will be back next year for Avengers 4.

However, speaking to The Huffington Post, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have suggested that may not be the case after all, and that the aforementioned sequels may well take place prior to Infinity War.

“Here’s the thing, I think it’s important to remember anything is possible in the McU [Marvel Cinematic Universe],” said Anthony. “Just because there’s a sequel on the books doesn’t mean … people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the McU. That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There’s
