- Drama is so nervous about the first airing of his TV series Five Towns that he can't stand to see any reviews. He finally bites the bullet after an hour of massage (rub & tug). The review is murderous, even worse on himself. So, Drama tracks down the writer of the review Paul Schneider & tells him that he has never given a good review in 15 yrs. Paul tells Drama, he just feels Drama isn't any good. Paul also tells him that all the other reviews are bad too.
Vince and E tell Ari he doesn't get them back, they still want Medellin first. Ari begs them to let Medellin go, but Vince and E are clear.. those are the terms. Ari arranges lunch with director Joe Roberts (Michael Lerner) (who loves Vince), whom the boys convince to make Medellin by buying it from Gatoff. Vince argues that Pablo Escobar was a drug dealer, yet the biggest philanthropist to his own people. The US people would love a story based on the humanity of such an evil. Joe demands Vince first makes Matterhorn (Joe has been passionate about Matterhorn the same way Vince has been about Medellin.. Joe couldn't make Matterhorn as 2 weeks before production, Colin broke his arm). Ari tries to sell Matterhorn as the next big hit to Vince. But E is clear that they were never into Matterhorn. Instead, the boys decide to bid on the script and produce it themselves. Vince decides to mortgage the house to buy the script.
Now Ari has to convince Joe not to get into a bidding war as he has already put a bid on Medellin with Arthur. Joe decides to give into Vince's passion & backs off. Vince has Medellin for $ 5 M. Now, Vince decides to sign with Ari & their next big step is to figure out where to get the $ 70 M required to make this movie.
Turtle has a hard time collecting Drama's old-time car from the haughty mechanic Rufus (Marlon Young). Rufus had promised to deliver the car by noon, by when Turtle arrives Rufus makes him wait till 2:30 to get the car. While waiting, Turtle gets a date with the mechanics daughter Kelly (Lauren London), who is also into Fukijama kicks. Turtle bangs Drama's car as soon as it is out of the shop & has to beg Rufus to fix it again pronto. Rufus says there is no way that the car can done that day. Turtle needs to deliver the car back to Drama as he knows Drama is already having a meltdown over the outcome of his pilot. Kelly bails him out by asking one of the mechanics to work on it during his lunch break. Rufus is angry at Turtle for showing interest in Kelly & wants him out of the shop asap. But Turtle asks for Rufus's permission nicely & gets a date with Kelly.
The box office ends Drama's gloom. Lloyd calls to confirm that 16 million viewers watched the show and took the top slot in TRPs. Drama is finally relieved.
