Unoriginal and Forgettable B-Movie
claudio_carvalho11 October 2008
When a group of alien agents from a dying planet come to Earth under the leadership of Isis (Amelia Cooke) to build a portal to connect both worlds, the warrior Rykker (Mark Dacascos) opposes and defends the earthlings. He rescues the teenager Julie (Emma Lahana), whose family was murdered by the invaders, and together they try to destroy the portal and avoid the invasion commanded by the cruel Saylon (Billy Zane).

"Alien Agent" is an unoriginal and forgettable B-movie, with a terrible screenplay that begins the story like a sequel of a pilot of a TV show. The situations are only motive for car chases, explosions, shootings and stupid fights. The story begins with a car chase when two aliens fire their machine guns against Rykker but never hit the hero; suddenly one of them wisely jumps on Rykker car to struggle against the hero in a ridiculous sequence. The rest of the story follows the low standard. My vote is three.

Title (Brazil): "A Invasão" ("The Invasion")

F**k!ng aliens want our planet.
Someguysomwhere27 April 2008
In a nutshell so that you don't have to read the rest of my crap if you don't want to: Old story. Aliens are having problems in their world and so come to ours to bug us or take over, or something. I dunno. So an alien agent is sent to stop them from their diabolical schemes.

When not chairing the "Iron Chef" Mark Dacascos. does action B-movies which are, in my opinion, usually better than most B-movies but yet always seem to fall just short of their potential. This one is no exception. All the pieces are there; just needed a little bit more intelligence in the writing and better direction. Case in point: our hero steals a police car and was asked by his companion why he did it. He replied that he wanted to hear the police reports. This was so obviously a lame excuse since the cost of attracting so much attention to himself far outweighed the benefits of any police report. Besides, he could simply have used or gotten a scanner of his own (he had a hideout full of crap).More likely the director wanted a car chase and this was his best excuse to get one. In another scene a lot of people were killed for no good reason other than to steal a truck. Why would you do that and draw unwanted attention to yourself? More likely the director needed a mass murder in the movie this was his best excuse for one.

I wanted to like this movie, and I did "somewhat" (I liked the early scene with the alien chick on the overpass; at that point the movie looked very promising) but there were some inconsistencies that bugged me. In the first fight scene the hero fought very well; expertly. Then there was a later fight scene where he appeared to not know how to fight at all. If the director wanted the bad guy to get the better of him he could have done it without making him look like he forgot how to fight altogether (he basically stood there and took an ass whipping).

Dacascos obviously is a talented martial artist. More so than Van Damme or Seagal. And yet -as luck or fate would have it- never achieved even their level of success. Ironic that he's probably better known from a cooking show than from what he does best. Kick ass. Ahh well, life has a sense of humor. All I can say for Alien Agent is that it's better than most B-movies which may or may not be saying much. Why don't you be the judge? Love, Boloxxxi.

Kung fu alien fun
yahaira-729-69470118 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love this B movie, the acting is good, some minor special effects but mainly kung fu acrobatics. Mark Damascos a great martial artist of the Iron Chef fame and Billy Zane are great in this B flick; martial arts vs an alien invasion. Damarcos' presence charges up the scenes just with his physical bearing. Other martial arts actors are good like the alien guy picking up the shipment who fights everyone on the staircase, lol. Cops dont have a clue there are inane car chases; so this is time to make the popcorn. Heavy metal soundtrack is not bad. Flirty girl ditches the guy and robs his jeep kinda cheapshot here. Dumb ass hick picks her up and gets out witted. There are mixed messages in the script are some of the aliens good are some humanoid. The aliens download thier consciousness into the human host and fight each other not with lasers but thier guns and fists. They too have political squabbles like the humans. The cool but simple graphic special effects when they download, or when they heal their body are comical like a comic book graphic.

You have to be kidding?
mindcat12 November 2008
I bought this terrible flick suspecting it was a grade C movie, but might be good for a laugh or two.

I was surprised, it was a D movie and full of stupid remarks, forgettable characters, a plot that had an intelligent person written the screen play, might have worked.

How such worthless trashy flicks get the bucks to be produced, much less consumed by what must be children and adults with learning disabilities, I don't know.

The lack of imagination in how the invaders invade is depressing. They're all humans who have been killed, but somehow their bodies taken over by the invaders. I was unable to waste enough time to see this thing to its end.

Other commenters may help here.

Enjoyable Low Budget Action Sci-Fi
Dark_Lord_Mark15 July 2021
It's a GOOD MOVIE.

Considering the budget, it was good. I usually think about budget when scoring movies.

This movie had a small romance, good action, acting was hit or miss, but Marc was fantastic as an alien hero cop who wants to stop an invasion.- That's my plot summary!

Hero, heroin were both likeable. You wanted them to succeed. Action and fights were good.

If you like sci fi and aren't a hipster, you'll enjoy this.

Meh. It was all pretty generic stuff...
paul_haakonsen15 September 2022
I sat down to watch the 2007 sci-fi action movie "Alien Agent" for the second time since it was initially released. I have to say that while I have watched the movie once before, then I couldn't remember anything from it. Hence, as I had the opportunity to watch writer Vlady Pildysh and director Jesse V. Johnson's 2007 movie again here in 2022, of course I did so.

Needless to say that it was because of leading actor Mark Dacascos that I opted to return and watch "Alien Agent" a second time.

The storyline in "Alien Agent" is rather generic, if I have to be bluntly honest. Sure, it made for an adequate enough viewing experience, but the storyline was not outstanding. So writer Vlady Pildysh didn't exactly manage to put together a storyline that was out of the this world - pun intended. The storyline is driven by a rather mundane and slow pace, making "Alien Agent" somewhat of a drag to sit through.

The acting in "Alien Agent" was adequate. While the movie was led by Mark Dacascos, he wasn't really given any opportunity to fully utilize his martial arts skills in the movie. Sure, there was a bit of fighting, but it wasn't sufficient for my liking. The movie also has Billy Zane and Kim Coates on the cast list, so there are some familiar faces on the screen.

"Alien Agent" is a sci-fi action crime movie, and as such I would have expected a bit more usage of special effects. However, they opted to go pretty low-tech here, and the movie was sort of suffering from that.

While watchable, "Alien Agent" was not an outstanding movie really. And I doubt that I will ever return to the movie a third time.

My rating of "Alien Agent" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Lousy - Now I know where "The Event" stole its plot from
mike-ryan4554 June 2011
First, the plot of "The Event" - the dying planet trying to assemble the teleportation device to beam their inhabitants to safety and the the evil faction going to kill us humans off so they have room on Earth - seemed a wee bit familiar. They stole it from here. This one came years first.

It wasn't a great plot to steal, but The Event could have pulled it off with better acting and a more logical, well written script. They should have known by watching "Alien Agent" that when you don't have a script worth jack you don't have a decent show. Unfortunately, they didn't learn that critical lesson.

Well, on to "Alien Agent." Yes, it is as bad as everyone says it is. Horrid writing, terrible episode, just abysmal. I have seen better from Sci Fi channel movies. It lacks even cheesy CGI special effects. The production values looked more like a bad Star Trek: TOS episode than anything else.

Don't ruin an hour and a half of your life by watching this Grade D turkey.

there is a good movie hidden somewhere here
dien25 August 2012
Since I like action films, sci-fi films and invasion films and I am familiar with the work of Mark Dacascos, I was curious to check out this movie.

I can't say it's a total disappointment. It has it's moments and some of it actually does work. Unfortunately, what might have been a good film, got lost under a pile of amateurism, cheap sets and poor special effects.

On the good side, the acting is not that bad and there are elements you wish where explored more. Plus the action is OK, even though I wish there had been more martial art fights between the main hero and some of the main baddies in stead of just ordinaries lackies.

What bothered me the most was the ending which felt tacked on as if the producers were planning for a sequel. If one ever materializes, I will probably watch it.

Iron Chef, Yellow Power Ranger, and Aliens with Machine Guns!!
stsinger7 June 2008
A bunch of aliens come to earth looking to colonize the planet (damned aliens!!). A "good alien" played by Mark Dacascos (who is the Chairman on the US version of "Iron Chef") comes to fight them because the good aliens think they can colonize another planet, and that will not involve wiping out all of humanity. But the weapon of choice for these aliens is machine guns... and man, do they love their machine guns! No laser beams for these aliens! The good alien meets up with a girl played by Emma Lahana, the Yellow Power Ranger in the Dino Thunder series, and she is just as cute and hot as ever, even though they gave her the single most ridiculous body double/shower scene in history (it looks like the body double was from another movie!).

So, sounds fun? Well, it is. If you're expecting greatness -- or even sense and continuity -- steer clear, but for a fast-paced little sci-fi action flick, you could do a LOT worse.

A good sci-fi movie, without big Hollywood special effects
wizzfizzus16 March 2008
Alient Agent sits somewhere between a good B grade and an average A grade movie.

The story goes as follows: An ancient, highly evolved alien race are searching for a new home planet. Being both intelligent and highly evolved they have made a decree not to settle any inhabited planets, which is good for us as Earth is only one of two planets that they have a hope of settling before their race dies out.

Defying the decree, a rebel faction on the alien home planet attempt to invade earth. They send in scouts (via some kind of heavenly projectiles) who have the ability to reanimate human bodies with their life force (once the human has died of course) thus taking over their humanly appearance and conveniently making all the aliens appear as humans for the duration of the movie.

These aliens are stronger than humans and have other neat abilities, like regeneration and psychic awareness, their aim is to build a portal to their own world, enabling them to send in their armies and take over the earth - presumably sending everyone by meteorite is too difficult.

All is not lost! Some good guys get wind of the evil factions plans and send their best agent, the 'lone ranger' named Ryker (Mark Dacascos) to stop them.

All in all the movie is fairly enjoyable. There are a few inconsistencies, but for the most part its fairly well put together. There are plenty of fight scenes, most of them being fun to watch even if slightly predictable. The one notable exception being marred by poor speed editing - director please note: Mark Dacascos is fast enough! Marc Dacascas plays the lone crusader well and his unlikely sidekick Emma Lahana (Julie) did almost too good a job at times, switching demeanors so fast it was hard to keep up.

Its lack of big CGI animations and special effects works in its favor for the most part, the movie seems better for it. In fact some of the worse parts in the movie are when the utterly unconvincing CGI effects are used to heal Ryker (don't worry - there aren't many), I can't help but think it would have been better left to the viewers imagination.

I personally wouldn't buy this movie but it would be a good one to watch on TV or rent, especially for sci-fi fans.

Better than the title suggests
dbborroughs30 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Good B-scifi film with an awful title. The plot has an alien race trying to build a worm hole terminal on earth so they can leave their dying planet and forcibly take over the earth. They only thing stopping them is an single alien who wants revenge. What can I say its turn your brain off time at the old homestead. The best way to describe this is a way better than average SCIFI Channel original film. Its a better than average TV movie that just works with in its limits and goes. Certainly its nothing you haven't seen before but its sense of seriousness makes it worth your time in front of the TV screen. If there is any flaw its the invulnerability the aliens have, it kind of takes the edge off the danger. Still if this had a better title people would be eating this up.

Agent Mark
zerozx20 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I think it is way better than "I am Omega", BUT some aspects of the movie let me be disappointed. Well since I am very Martial Arts-oriented I make the short version and comment on those, particularly....

a) first fight: Mark vs Darren Shalhavi ( Yes I know this guy, a very neat Martial Artist, also unheard of guy Here ), the fight after Mark came out of the damaged car.... Yes, one of my personal favorite fights, a very consistent pace by pace choreography. Mark didn't use High kicks, only Close Range Counters, and a sweep at the end. Short, but very acceptable fight scene.

b) Mark meeting Isis and her bully partner: Mark fought well against the small fry, good average choreography.... but then seeing Mark struggling against Isis's partner without any Martial Arts move, was a little bit disappointing. Finishing off with a gun shot is way to easy...

d) Mark confronting Billy Zane and Isis. well let's get to the ugly part first. Billy Zane's performance was the most pathetic I have ever seen. First he commands Isis to kill off Rykker wimping "Kill him, kill him...." <- the way he said it, was already pathetic. A real main villain would have been more sinister,.... but after Isis obviously couldn't finish Rykker, he then wimped "Okay,... let him watch then..." And after he said "I will return with thousands (of troops)" that's where I started laughing at him... Man, and at the end, Ceylops didn't even return, HAHAAAAA!!!!

But now back to my real purpose the Martial Arts fight sequences: Isis vs Mark.... this at least should have been the highlight of the movie,.... but it didn't turn out this way,... AGAIN... Yes, I appreciate that the director let Isis perform some good Martial Arts moves with a Kunai-whip, pretty and good,... but again what about Mark the main actor??? I thought he would at least land 3 or 4 moves, of Punches and Kicks against Isis, and we Martial Arts fans would have been more than happy,... well at least Mark got a hold at Isis's Whip which deserve at least a plus point on my Skala,

e) And guess what there was another fight, somewhere on the roof top, against to mercenary aliens ( was it at Rykker's World or not ??? I am not sure ) Well anyhow. This is at least a worthier finish , and we see Mark kicking the hell out of the two bullies. This was a good fight in the end, and it saved my mood.

Overall this movie was way better than "I am Omega". It was not the neat Highlight as I had hoped for, but in general it was acceptable with some flaws.... This movie had some good average fights, but also some tiny disappointing ones, and a pathetic Billy Zane... My favorite fights were the one at the beginning and in the end, the one where he fought of those thugs. I must say, it is somehow again a little bit of a shame of how a director can portray a wimpy Villain Leader and didn't use Mark's incredible Martial Arts talent to full potential yet again.

Always liked Mark Decascos! He always puts 120% into EVERYTHING he does! I don't know WHY he can't seem to break into "A List" Actors!

Not a bad Flick, but no one seems to be able to Shoot a gun worth a Crap! LOL.. but lots of action and a good storyline!
