Quotes

The Doctor: [tries to unlock the cell door with his sonic screwdriver] It's not working
Duggan: [taking the screwdriver from the Doctor and hammering it against the lock] Oh, you and your stupid ideas.
The Doctor: [snatching it off him] Don't!

The fun continues in the second episode
12 March 2007 | by See all my reviews

There's no doubt in my mind that Tom Baker was born to play The Doctor. His sense of eccentric mischief is evident in this episode as he continues to investigate the strange goings on in modern-day Paris.

Lalla Ward's Romana is a great sidekick and equal. This episode shows the headstrong Romana is just as observant and intelligent as The Doctor as she wanders about the laboratory putting her theories to the test.

The cast are simply a joy to watch.

While being more lighthearted than many of Baker's adventures, "City of Death" is a cracking yarn that has stood the test of time.

9 out of 10.
