Charming and funny documentary
17 June 2006 | by firstofall-1See all my reviews

"Peladao" is a charming an funny documentary about a quite large soccer tournament that takes place in the amazon region (brasil). The special about it is that not only hundreds of soccer teams are playing, but also hundreds of beauty queens are competing and maybe bring their team - that lost a match - back to the tournament. So the film is not only another film about soccer and if a team loses or wins a match. The film tells stories of people who play a part in the peladao as beauty queen, player, organizer etc. and gives a good look into normal peoples life. When you watch the film you get quite a good feeling of what it means to live in the amazon and to live without too much expectations except of participating in the world's largest football tournament . The Film never compromises the characters he is watching. An so the film is one of the funniest documentary i have ever seen. I really laughed a lot. Besides there is a lot of cool Brazilian rock and pop music in the film. It's worth watching!
