The Meg Trailer: Jason Statham Vs. the World's Biggest Shark

The Meg Trailer: Jason Statham Vs. the World's Biggest Shark
It's almost unbelievable. But here we are. The first trailer for The Meg has arrived. And it's nothing short of a miracle. It seems like forever that this movie has been in development. Based on the nationwide bestseller, it takes the idea of a shark attack and bloats it like a dead whale to unimaginable proportions.

In The Meg, A deep-sea submersible, part of an international undersea observation program, has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific. With its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew, and the ocean itself, from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as theMegalodon.

You're Gonna Need A Much Bigger Boat in the First Trailer for The Meg

  • Cinelinx
A giant shark movie is getting the big-budget Hollywood treatment and it shows in the ferocious first trailer for The Meg! Check it out!

There was a time when audiences couldn't get enough of Shark Movies. The Jaws franchise was the first to really set the standard for the genre, but as with most things too much of a good thing can get old quick. After Jaws 1 & 2, the franchise began taking very off-kilter directions, causing the genre to lie dormant for some time. Afterward, Sci-Fi Channel (now Syfy) took hold of the Shark Film genre and ran with it, airing such films as the Mega Shark series and the iconic Sharknado franchise.

However, since movies like The Shallows and 47 Meters Down have come out, the genre has seen a revival. So, naturally, it's time for the genre to get a bit outlandish. The first trailer for Jason Statham's giant shark film,

Amber Tamblyn Speaks Out on Hollywood's History of Harassment After James Woods' Tweets

Amber Tamblyn Speaks Out on Hollywood's History of Harassment After James Woods' Tweets
Amber Tamblyn is not holding back—not any more that is. The fiery star penned an impassioned op-ed piece in the New York Times earlier today and put both James Woods and Hollywood on blast for calling women who speak out about harassment "liars." The article, entitled "I'm Done With Not Being Believed," details an alleged encounter from her teen years when she says that the former Shark star hit on her and her friends at a diner, as well as time when the former Joan of Arcadia star was 21 years old and she went to a producer to explain she was being harassed by a crew member. Panabaker rose to fame with performances in Disney productions like Sky High and Read It and Weep. She broke out with her performances in the HBO series Empire Falls, the drama series Shark, and a series of horror films. Today, she appears in the incredibly popular The Flash. While

‘Deep Blue Sea’ Sequel Coming to SyFy, Probably Without Samuel L. Jackson

‘Deep Blue Sea’ Sequel Coming to SyFy, Probably Without Samuel L. Jackson
Have we entered a new golden age for shark movies? Probably not, but that isn’t stopping Syfy from commissioning a “Deep Blue Sea” sequel 18 years after the original. The move follows the recent success of both “The Shallows” and “47 Meters Down,” not to mention Syfy’s own “Sharknado” series.

Michael Beach is starring in the film and, since he’ll also appear in next year’s “Aquaman,” it doesn’t seem premature to deem this a case of nominative determinism. Darin Scott (“House Party: Tonight’s the Night”) is helming this particular ship, which is already filming in Cape Town.

Here’s what former director Jack Perez said of the direction the sequel was originally going to take back when it was slated for a DVD release in 2009, according

The Flash Sizzle Reel Teases What’s To Come In Remaining Three Episodes

Similar to the treatment Arrow was given a few weeks back, The CW has put together a sizzle reel hinting at what’s to come in the remaining episodes of The Flash season 3. Truth be told, I got the impression that something like this wouldn’t be released because nothing dropped around the time of the video package for the sister show, but it stands to reason that the network opted to hold off for a bit until Savitar was unmasked.

On that note, the footage provided is squarely focused on the enduring battle between Team Flash and the self-proclaimed God of Speed. What’s especially noteworthy is that we gain some insight into the future Barry Allen’s motivation, something that’ll obviously be elaborated upon over the next few weeks. From what we’ve been thus far afforded though, it appears that he wants to do all he

All-Star Batman Vol. 1: My Own Worst Enemy Review

This review is based off a volume that collects All-Star Batman #1-5.

Unless you’re a casual reader scoping out this review, odds are that you’re at least somewhat aware of the many contributions Scott Snyder has made to the Batman mythos during this decade. To say that he and Greg Capullo have made their mark is an understatement. Whether it be creating the Court of Owls, redefining the Joker or even putting Jim Gordon under the cowl, that dynamic duo may very well one day find themselves mentioned in the same breath as legendary creative teams such as Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams.

But after wrapping a definitive 51-issue run, where does one go from there? For Snyder, at least, the solution for All-Star Batman was simple: Beyond the borders of Gotham City. I must admit that taking the Dark Knight out of his comfort zone opens up some interesting possibilities,

‘The Flash’ Executive Producer Teases Grodd’s Invasion of Central City

‘The Flash’ Executive Producer Teases Grodd’s Invasion of Central City
Last week, Barry (Grant Gustin), Cisco (Carlos Valdes), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), and Julian (Tom Felton) headed to Earth-2 on a mission to save Harry Wells (Tom Cavanagh) from Gorilla City. Now the fight is coming to them.

Along with saving Wells from Gorilla City, Barry had hoped he could change another news headline — the one mentioning Central City recovering from a gorilla attack — he saw from the future where Savitar kills Iris (Candice Patton). However, in taking down Solovar, the gorilla’s leader, his old enemy Grodd was put into power with a singular goal of returning to Earth-1 Central City and wreaking havoc.

Variety spoke with executive producer Aaron Helbing about Grodd’s army coming to town, and how the city — and the Flash — handles it.

Grodd got his introduction in Season 1; in Season 2 you brought him back, and surprised a lot of people by introducing King Shark. Now you’re doing this mini-event with an

The Flash Prepares To Enter Gorilla City In Dynamic New Poster

After taking a break in observance of Valentine’s Day, The Flash looks to come back strong next week as it continues to embrace its comic book heritage with the two-part “Gorilla City” event.

So far, the series has delighted viewers with incredible interpretations of villains such as the Reverse Flash, Zoom and Captain Cold, but when more fantastical baddies like Gorilla Grodd or King Shark are brought to life via CGI, many a fanboy have had reason to cheer. Personally, I think that some things that originate on the page don’t work as well in live-action, but the execution has been pretty good to this point, so I can’t really complain much.

With less than a week to go until “Gorilla City” officially commences, the network has released a cool new poster, something they’re no stranger to doing when promoting the more significant episodes of each DC series to be aired.
