The final shootout in this film borrows heavily from that of Taxi Driver
Death Wish 3 (1985)
the scene where the policewoman leaves Nick alone with his son in the latter's hospital room, and Nick manages to slip away through the bathroom window, resembles the scene in Death Wish III where Kersey is left alone with Bennett by Shriker and slips away through the window. As Death Sentence is based on the sequel novel to the novel Death Wish, this is a connection.
