The Black Widow Movie Is Officially a Go! Here's What We Know About It So Far

It's official: Black Widow is getting her own standalone Marvel film! This is game-changing news, because a majority of the heroes in the core Avengers group - specifically Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America - have multiple standalone films. The announcement came after a couple of additional inclusive projects from the comics juggernaut: the female-led Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, hits theaters in 2019, and the groundbreaking Black Panther, which shattered multiple records after its Feb. 16 debut.

When it comes to Black Widow, there's an extra piece of exciting news: not only will a woman take the lead on writing the screenplay, but the film will also be the second Marvel film directed by a woman. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Cate Shortland, director of the Nazi drama Lore, signed on to direct the standalone film on July 12, with TiMER writer Jac Schaeffer penning the script. Shortland was tapped after a

Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Laurence Fishburne would like to “suit up” as Goliath

Laurence Fishburne, one of the stars of Ant-Man and the Wasp, has said that he would like to suit up as his character Goliath one day.

Just because you’re playing a superhero in 2018 doesn’t mean you get to sport an awesome looking costume straight from the comics. While many characters have faithful renditions of their costumes on screen, it’s not a given that you’ll get to suit up in your first outing.

Laurence Fishburne plays the character Bill Foster, aka Goliath, in Ant-Man and the Wasp, a character who has the ability to increase his size much like the original Ant-Man.

Fishburne, unfortunately, didn’t get to suit up in the movie, but the actor is hoping that will come at some point: “If it happens, if I get to suit up, great. If I don’t get to suit up, at least I’m in the McU,

New Avengers 4 Theory Suggests How The Time Stone Could Undo Thanos’ Snap

Another day, another theory on how our favorite Marvel superheroes will get out of the mess that was made in Infinity War.

The latest piece of speculation comes from a Reddit user who offers a new variation on the time travel rumors surrounding next year’s Avengers 4. He starts off by acknowledging that turning back the clock before the infamous, genocidal finger-snap could potentially create one of those pesky paradoxes that have plagued many a time travel storyline.

“After all, as soon as the snap is reversed, in all technicality, whatever plan was set in motion by the post-snap era heroes never would have been enacted.”

While it’s pretty common for writers of time travel fiction to just leave paradoxes as they are, this Reddit user feels that a more logically sound solution can come from the Time Stone’s ability to exclude individual people from its effects.

“Considering this capability,

33.) “Spider-Man 2” (2004)

Another super-quick Lee cameo, but during the first fight between Spidey and Doc Ock, Lee sees enough screen time to pull a women out of harm’s way. Watch the clip here.

First Look at Chris Hemsworth as Men in Black Spin-Off Begins Shooting

First Look at Chris Hemsworth as Men in Black Spin-Off Begins Shooting
Chris Hemsworth has suited up and gone to work as an alien busting special agent this week. The Men in Black spin-off has officially started shooting. The first set images have leaked, and they show the Thor star in his signature Mib black tie and sunglasses. He looks ready to fight extraterrestrial forces with a smile.

Chris Hemsworth's time as Thor in the Marvel universe may be coming to an end with next summer's Avengers 4. So he's locked down his next big franchise, taking the lead in what should be Men in Black 4, but is being called a spin-off by Sony. It will be a reboot of the series, but won't erase what has come before it, like Hemsworth's Ghostbusters remake unwisely did.

In Men in Black, Chris Hemsworth will be reuniting with his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson, who is playing his partner. The two are the lead agents of the London Mib branch,

Chris Hemsworth Trades McU For Mib In First Men In Black Set Photos

Here come the Men in Black, galaxy defenders…

Production has officially commenced for Sony’s upcoming reboot and to prove it, Just Jared (h/t Cbm) has relayed the first set pics of a sharp-suited Chris Hemsworth, who’s clearly traded the McU for the Mib.

The Avengers: Infinity War actor was pictured with his black suit and black Ray Bans on, and while he’ll inevitably share the screen with a host of A-list talent, Hemsworth was the only one needed for this particular sequence, which appears to involve some sort of investigation into a local case.

Headed up by director F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious), we know Men in Black features a script from Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the duo best known for their work on Iron Man. Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani and Rafe Spall of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are among the ensemble cast,

Early Thor Concept Art Showcases The God Of Thunder’s Battle With Loki

One of the most popular character dynamics in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the sibling rivalry between Asgardian brothers Thor and Loki. McU lovers adore the banter between Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston and it’s been a rollercoaster ride seeing their complex relationship develop over the years.

It all began in 2011’s Thor, of course, which saw the God of Thunder exiled to Earth, giving the trickster god the perfect opportunity to lead the Frost Giants in a quest to take over Asgard. Apart from the tussle with the Destroyer in New Mexico, the big battle of the third act was Thor and Loki’s fierce fight on the Bifrost bridge.

Now, we’ve got some early concept art for the movie which captures how this sibling skirmish could have gone down differently. The piece displays some very similar character designs to the finalized versions, but there is the odd difference.

Idris Elba to Be the Villain in Fast and Furious Spinoff

  • Cinelinx
We have a common enemy!  Idris Elba plans on playing opposite Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the Fast and Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw!

The moment Fate of the Furious ended, Universal Pictures saw an opening to give Dwayne Johnson's character, Hobbs, the spin-off film, they so desired.  It turns out, all it took was a positive reception of Jason Statham's character, Shaw (which really should've been Calvin), in the over-the-top 8th installment of the franchise.  It didn't hurt that the chemistry between the two was palpable, as well.  Since then, Universal greenlit the project, signed their two high profile badasses, and put pen to paper, courtesy of Fast and Furious' own Chris Morgan.  Now, a new report sees another A-list actor joining the ranks!

According to a report from Variety, Idris Elba is in final negotiations with Universal Pictures to play the villain in the Dwayne Johnson-Jason

Fast And Furious Spinoff Hobbs And Shaw Finds Its Villain In Idris Elba

He’s taken charge of the Bifrost for Marvel’s Thor series (and Avengers: Infinity War!) and roamed the streets of London as Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, but for his next gig, Idris Elba will be squaring off against two Hollywood heavyweights in Hobbs and Shaw.

That’s the tentative title given to Universal’s Fast and Furious spinoff, which currently has Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch behind the wheel and franchise architect Chris Morgan on script duties. Front and center are Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as special agent Luke Hobbs and seasoned crook Deckard Shaw, the original antagonist of Furious 7 before Statham’s gruff petrolhead switched sides – not unlike Dwayne Johnson’s own character trajectory in this juggernaut franchise.

Now, they’ll be fighting out of the same corner, with Variety reporting today that Hobbs and Shaw will be going up against a common enemy in

Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Vows To Steer The McU Into New Genres In Phase 4 And Beyond

A Marvel-backed Western movie? Or how about an McU installment that strays into full-blown horror territory?

It’s certainly not out of the question, according to Kevin Feige, after the Marvel Studios president told that the superhero franchise will “continue to explore other genres” as it nears the fourth phase in its historic lifecycle.

The Marvel executive has been out promoting Peyton Reed’s imminent sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6th), and when asked if the McU will ever whisk viewers off into uncharted territory – for a Marvel movie, at least – Feige hinted that he’s not opposed to backing a horror or Western film.

For the meantime, though, the McU boss aims to uphold the franchise’s track record for exploring “other genres” as time wears on.

I’m interested in all of them. I love film. I love film, I love all different film genres.

Galaga Guy Finally Gets His Own Marvel 10th Anniversary Poster

To celebrate ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios has released a mammoth number of character posters showcasing each and every one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Each one came with a tagline, too, that followed the format of “More Than A …”

But what about the little guys of the McU? Those supporting characters that might not wear costumes or possess special powers, but they steal a scene all the same. Not all heroes wear capes, after all.

Take the Galaga Guy, for example. As seen back in The Avengers, Tony Stark accused this background S.H.I.E.L.D. agent of playing Galaga while no one was looking. Sure enough, the billionaire playboy philanthropist was proven right. Now, one fan – namely Satan Boyy – has created a mock character poster for him sporting the tagline: “More than a gamer.”

You can check it out down in the

Captain Marvel Joins The Team On Beautiful Avengers 4 Fan Poster

The final moments of Avengers: Infinity War completely shattered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Due to Thanos achieving his goal of wiping out half of the universe, a huge swathe of the galaxy’s mightiest heroes were turned to dust, including the Guardians, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and many more.

Just to offer some light in the darkness, though, the post-credits scene of the movie teased the arrival of another hero who could help the surviving Avengers – Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, who was contacted by Nick Fury before he died. We didn’t see the heroine appear in the sequence, but it’s since been confirmed that Carol Danvers will turn up in Avengers 4 to help save the day.

But what could this team-up look like? Well, an amazing piece of fan art (artist unknown) which was shared on Reddit this week offers a mocked-up

Kevin Feige Reveals How Future McU Origin Stories Will Be Handled

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has discussed what future origin story movies will look like going forward in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it doesn't look like Marvel will be entirely getting rid of the "origin story" concept in the future, don't expect every new Marvel hero to start with a whole movie dedicated to their origin.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe began with origin stories, with almost every hero receiving a movie dedicated to their superhero origins, from Iron Man to The Incredible Hulk, and Thor to Captain America: The First Avenger. However, some of the more recent origin movies, such as Doctor Strange and Ant-Man, have received some negative responses with people arguing that they are essentially just the same plot being repeated over and over again, just with different characters. Perhaps it is time to let the origin movies die out.

Back in 2014, Marvel announced that they were

New Character Designs For Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel Feature Hawkeye, Hulk, Nick Fury, and More

A few weeks ago some promo art for Avengers 4 surfaced giving us our first look at the remaining Avengers team members which consists of Thor, Captain Marvel, Nebula, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, Black Widow, Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, War Machine, and Ant-Man.

Now some new character designs have surfaced showing us individual designs for several of these heroes including Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, War Machine, Hulk, Thanos, Rocket Raccoon, and Nebula. The art was posted on Twitter and they are said to be legit.

As you'll see, the images and costume designs do match up with the previously released promo art. I also included some art from the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, which shows off more Captain Marvel along with a younger version of Nick Fury.

There are still so many questions about Avengers 4. We all have our theories on what we think will happen, which is fun to talk about and discuss.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Hailed by Critics as Creative, Confident Marvel Sequel

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Hailed by Critics as Creative, Confident Marvel Sequel
Thanos won the “Infinity War.” Half of the universe is dead. Sounds like a great time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have a small-scale comedy, right?

Taking place just prior to the shocking events of the latest “Avengers” film, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is the sequel to 2015’s mildly received “Ant-Man,” and critics say that this follow-up shows a cast and director with more confidence and creativity. With 61 early reviews logged, Rotten Tomatoes currently gives the film a score of 90 percent.

Reviews have praised Peyton Reed for showing his increased experience in blockbuster filmmaking and returning actors Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas for settling into their roles as the two titular shrinking superheroes and their mentor, former Ant-Man Hank Pym.

All 20 Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies Ranked, From Worst to Best (Photos)

  • The Wrap
Nobody on the internet wants to talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s a topic we just can’t go on ignoring. But seriously: even though this seemingly unstoppable franchise has rabid fans across the globe, no one can agree on which ones they like best. TheWrap’s Film Reviews Editor Alonso Duralde take his own stab at the subject — and no, he’s not getting paid by anyone at Disney to like any of these films.

20. “The Incredible Hulk” (2008)

Released just five years after Ang Lee‘s “Hulk,” this second attempt to make a leading man out of the big green Gamma-radiated creature proved to be similarly disappointing. If we’ve learned anything from the Avengers movies, it’s that Bruce Banner works best when he’s a supporting character (and when he’s played by Mark Ruffalo)

19. “Ant-Man” (2015).

While this movie deserves credit for not putting

James Gunn Says He’s Finished Writing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

James Gunn Says He’s Finished Writing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’
The state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be totally up in the air after Thanos snapped his fingers in “Avengers: Infinity War,” but the Guardians of the Galaxy will return — in some form. And now their return has a script.

Guardians of the Galaxy” writer James Gunn took to social media to announce the fact that he’d finished the screenplay, posting a photo of the title page. As a caption, he wrote “Every bit of my heart.”

Every bit of my heart.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) June 25, 2018

The sentimental message is very likely a hint that the next “Guardians” will have its share of emotional, heart-wrenching moments, like the last two movies. The most recent of those emotional impacts happened in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which Gunn made all the more gut-punching by explaining on Twitter what Groot said to Rocket at the end of the movie.
