Thor Officially Makes More Money Than Batman

Thor Officially Makes More Money Than Batman
Batman, the superhero alter ego of multi-billionaire Bruce Wayne, may need to ask Marvel’s God of Thunder for a loan, at least when it comes to Hollywood. A new report from Variety reveals that Chris Hemsworth, the returning superstar of several Thor and Avengers films, will get paid almost seven times more money for Love and Thunder than incoming Dark Knight Robert Pattinson will earn for the gritty The Batman reboot at Warner Bros.

According to the outlet, Hemsworth will make $20 million from the fourth Thor movie, which also sees Taika Waititi back as director, while Pattinson will don the cape and cowl for $3 million. The numbers show just how much Hemsworth’s star has risen in the decade since he made his Marvel debut as a relative newcomer in 2011’s Thor. Meanwhile, despite some excellent performances in the past few years for the Twilight and Tenet star, including

McU's Thor Trilogy: Each Main Character's Most Iconic Scene

McU's Thor Trilogy: Each Main Character's Most Iconic Scene
In the eyes of even the most diehard fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Thor trilogy is typically viewed as the worst among the main trio of heroes. The original in 2011 was seen as solid and the 2013 sequel usually has the lowest ratings on review websites of any MCU film.

Things turned around with the third entry in 2017 in a huge way and now a fourth film is on the horizon. Despite the mixed reviews at times, the characters of the franchise have become some of the most memorable in the MCU, often thanks to their most iconic scenes.

From ‘Black Widow’ to ‘Shang-Chi,’ Superhero Cinema Confronts an Uncertain Box Office Future

From ‘Black Widow’ to ‘Shang-Chi,’ Superhero Cinema Confronts an Uncertain Box Office Future
Any red carpet premiere for a Marvel Studios movie is an over-the-top event, and the gala opening for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on Monday night was no exception. Disney shut down Hollywood Blvd. in front of the El Capitan Theater, where throngs of costumed (and masked) fans crowded the sidewalks on either side, as stars Simu Liu and Awkwafina patiently walked down the (socially distanced) press line, talking up everything from how the film marks a milestone for Asian representation to its many elaborate and kinetic action scenes.

There was an unmistakable buzz of excitement in the air, but it was also tinged with something the MCU hasn’t had to confront in a decade: anxiety. When “Shang-Chi” opens on Sept. 3, it will be Marvel Studios’ first exclusive theatrical release in over two years, and for the first time since the earliest days of the studio

Is DC Making A Mistake By Not Connecting Their Superhero Universe?

Is DC Making A Mistake By Not Connecting Their Superhero Universe?
In 2008, Marvel began their universe starting with Iron Man; Since then, Marvel has repeatedly dropped films that tied into a shared universe, notably The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger, that ultimately combined the heroes in Marvel’s The Avengers, which saw the film go on to make $1. 519 billion at the box office. Each film would continue to garner massive success thanks to Kevin Feige’s master plan for the Marvel universe and the finale, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame would go on to make over $2 billion strong at the box office. The Version of Thor: The Dark World We Never Saw

The Version of Thor: The Dark World We Never Saw
While Thor: The Dark World would not be accurately labeled as a dud, the 2013 sequel to 2011’s crucial early Marvel Cinematic Universe offering isn’t exactly widely regarded as a high point in the annals of the lucrative franchise. Sure, its $644 million global gross surpassed its predecessor’s $449 million, but the film itself is generally seen as a morose movie experiment hampered by an awkwardly-paced plot, and its dominant setting of Asgard and the celestial realms bored the popcorn crowd. Yet, the film was apparently the byproduct of lofty concepts that were subsequently butchered by Marvel, claims director Alan Taylor, who has revealed intriguing details on his unfettered version of the film.

At the time, the selection of Alan Taylor as director for Thor: The Dark World was an auspicious sign. While film was never his primary medium, he had worked on some of the hottest dramatic television properties in

Thor: Love and Thunder is a “Full-Blown Love Story”

Thor: Love and Thunder is a “Full-Blown Love Story”
Romance has never been the strongest element of the MCU’s Thor solo movies—so much so that, when Thor: Ragnarok wrote out Thor’s central love interest, Natalie Portman’s scientist Jane Foster, no one really cared. This is why it’s so damn impressive that Taika Waititi, the director and co-writer of Thor: Love and Thunder, plans to go hard-core romance for the Phase 4 flick.

Don’t worry. Waititi knows it’s kind of a wild idea: “What I wanted to do from the beginning was to ask: ‘What are people expecting the least from this franchise?’ Oh, I know – a full-blown love story!” Waititi told Wired earlier this week. The Kiwi director, who also helmed Ragnarok, has never been one to do the expected.

Waititi (who didn’t write the script for Ragnarok) co-wrote the script for Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who seems

What We Might See From Idris Elba’s Knuckles In Sonic 2
Like every actor worth their weight in Hollywood, Idris Elba has made a name for himself by signing on to some powerful franchises in recent years. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Idris Elba as Knuckles Might Be Perfect Casting

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Idris Elba as Knuckles Might Be Perfect Casting
“Knock, knock,” actor Idris Elba tweeted out Tuesday afternoon. Perfect bits of casting have started with less. Indeed, Elba’s playful post, along with the below poster of a clinched white fist and red, furry arm, revealed that the character of Knuckles will appear in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and that he’ll be voiced by the English thespian who once single handedly cancelled the apocalypse by here virtue of charisma alone. How fitting.

Knuckles is of course everyone’s favorite short-beaked echidna—not least of all because they likely have never seen an actual photo of those spiky Australian mammals that lay eggs. First appearing in 1994 with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for Sega Genesis, the red dude with even more attitude was essentially created to be a cooler and tougher version of the blue hedgehog. Ever since then he’s been cutting a path of badassery through the Sega library.

Marvel and DC face backlash over pay: ‘They sent a thank you note and $5,000 – the movie made $1bn’

But deep, deep in the credits scroll, you will also see “special thanks” to a long roster of comic book talent, most of them still alive, whose work forms the skeleton and musculature of the movie you just watched. Scenes storyboarded directly from Batman comics by Frank Miller; character arcs out of Thor comics by Walt Simonson; entire franchises, such as the Avengers films or Disney+ spinoff The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, that couldn’t exist without the likes of Kurt Busiek or Ed Brubaker.

The Losers: Chris Evans, Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana’s Forgotten Superhero Movie

The Losers: Chris Evans, Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana’s Forgotten Superhero Movie
Even The Losers get lucky sometimes. Before the Dceu was formed to compete against the ever-expanding, cash cow that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the approach at Warner Bros. was far looser. With the booming business of comic book adaptations in full swing, the studio was throwing money at several eclectic comic book titles like Watchmen and Jonah Hex, trying to stay competitive and seemingly more adult than their rivals. Hence before leaving to create his own superhero project, Hancock, writer-director Peter Berg started penning an adaptation of DC/Vertigo’s The Losers, bringing in French director Sylvain White to helm the picture.

Produced by Joel Silver, The Losers centered on a team of elite, black-ops Special Forces operatives betrayed by their handler. Director White connected with the material immediately.

“What appealed to me about The Losers was that it wasn’t the typical superhero-with-superpowers thing,” White told MTV. “It

The only sight of Christian Bale's MCU introduction so far has been images of the actor sporting a shaved head, but these new shots show him in full glory as the god-killing villain. Taking several cues from the Marvel source material, including a black cloak and silvery skin, his face, which still looks pretty human in appearance, seems to lack the more monstrous qualities of his comic book counterpart.

Thor: Love and Thunder Set Photos Finally Reveal Christian Bale’s Villain
Eyebrows shot clear skywards when Marvel Studios first announced that it had snagged former Batman Christian Bale to play its main Thor: Love and Thunder villain Gorr the God Butcher, but despite seeing a bald Bale hanging around on the film’s main shoot in Australia, we never got to witness the actor in full costume in any of the set photos that found their way online.

That situation definitely changed this week! Principle photography may have wrapped on Thor: Love and Thunder back in June, but it’s been reported that some additional photography and reshoots are now underway stateside – and they’ve delivered a set of images that finally reveal Bale’s villain in all his glory.

Well, most of his glory. No doubt there will be some visual effects added later to make him even more terrifying, but these pics do give us a really good idea

Thor's Roommate Darryl Jacobson May Return to the MCU Leading Into Love and Thunder
We already know that upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Love and Thunder will bring back several familiar faces from the franchise, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, Jane Foster, and Lady Sif, but there could be another fan-favorite being thrown into the mix; Darryl the put-upon roommate. Marvel's What If...? executive producer Brad Winderbaum, who produced the short films featuring Australian actor Daley Pearson as Darryl, has now seemingly teased the character's return in a recent exchange.

Asked by /Film whether there was any chance that director "Taika Waititi has put together another short to create a bridge between the events of Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder?" Winderbaum responded with "Are you talking about Darryl?" After confirming that yes, they are indeed talking about the beloved Darryl, Winderbaum said "Are you saying you want more Darryl?" in such an apparently teasing way that it can only mean that the

Thor: Love and Thunder Is Taika Waititi's Craziest Movie, Says It Shouldn't Make Sense

Thor: Love and Thunder Is Taika Waititi's Craziest Movie, Says It Shouldn't Make Sense
Director Taika Waititi made quite the impression with his first Marvel Studios outing, 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, but according to the man himself, that was nothing compared with Thor: Love and Thunder. His first MCU effort stands as one of the franchise's most unique outings, with its abundance of humor and neon 80s vibe, but now Waititi is preparing viewers for something even more unexpected with Thor: Love and Thunder, calling is the "craziest" movie he's ever made.

"Well, just between me and you and the readers, I've done some crazy shit in my life. I've lived, like, ten lifetimes. But it's the craziest film I've ever done. If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn't make sense. It's almost like it shouldn't be made. If you walked into a room and said, 'I want this and this and this.' Who's in it? These people. What
