- A woman returns home to investigate the mysterious deaths of her childhood friends.
- Maggie is a 30-year-old New York City career woman who returns to her hometown in upstate New York for a funeral of an old friend, and becomes reacquainted with three old high school friends, Joan, Susan, and Emily, as well as her old boyfriend Harry. When Maggie learns that other people whom she knew in school are dying mysterious deaths, she tries to convince her friends and the skeptic police that the murders are somehow connected to one another and linked to a mysterious death in school. When Maggie herself nearly becomes a victim of the unseen killer, she must dive into her past to uncover some terrible secrets that her friends may be hiding from her, which leads to one or more of them who may be the killer.—Anonymous
- Recently widowed Maggie, a successful New York City fashion designer, returns to her small Connecticut hometown to attend the memorial service of one of her childhood friends, Celia, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Celia was the glue that held together their clique of five high school friends, the other three who still also live in town: Susan, the poor one who married rich, her husband Andrew, also in their class, who is taking a run for the Governor's seat; Joan, the soccer mom; and Emily, who besides owning/operating a yoga studio, focuses her life on her cat, Fred. Maggie also reconnects with Joan's brother, divorced Harry, a local news director, Maggie and Harry who were the other's first love, he who she probably would have ended up with instead of her husband Richard if circumstances with their lives at the time were different. In discussion between the four friends, none noticed any mental health issue with Celia that would have indicated that she was suicidal. Also in those discussions, Maggie is the only one who notices that many of their high school classmates have recently died in what could be considered violent and accidental deaths, those numbers including Richard, who died in a fiery single vehicle crash. Each of the four deaths thus far were all ruled non-suspicious, although Maggie's protests at the time of Richard's death were deemed the rants of a woman going through emotional distress. While trying to be supportive, Maggie's friends at times don't seem to be as convinced as her as to the suspicious nature of the deaths. Maggie decides to investigate with or without her friends' support if only for Richard and Celia's sake. If Maggie is indeed correct that they were murdered, she may be placing her own life at risk if the murderer believes she is getting too close to the truth.—Huggo
