Utah Mom Allegedly Used Pliers to Pull Out Her 7-Year-Old’s Teeth in a Store Bathroom

A Utah mother was charged this week with one count of felony child abuse after she allegedly yanked out some of her 7-year-old son’s teeth in a Wal-Mart bathroom earlier this year.

Authorities say the charge stems from an April 2 incident in which 47-year-old Jeannine Isom went to Wal-Mart, purchased hand sanitizer and needle nose pliers and took her son to the bathroom. While there, investigators claim, she pulled out two of his teeth with the pliers.

“It wasn’t just a parent trying to get rid of a kid’s lose tooth,” Deputy Utah County, Utah, Attorney Christine Scott tells People.

Weirdo Dad Plays Dress Up, Decimates Son’s Social Life

Dale Price of American Fork, Utah chooses to let his son, Rain, know just how much he loves him in a very special way: by dressing up in a different costume every day and waving to his son as he rides away in the school bus. No, he literally dresses up in a different costume (“No recycling of costumes, that’s the rule,” Dale says) every day, which is probably awesome for his son, considering Dad has come out of the house dressed up like a terrifying clown, a blushing bride, and Batgirl. For real. On second thought, it’s probably only awesome for us, actually. Although, to be fair, on the same blog in which he chronicles his costume changes, Dale also reserves a space for readers to donate to Rain’s college fund and therapy bill. Makes sense. In all, Dale wore 170 costumes over the course of Rain’s school year.

List of North American Midnight Showings for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Announced

If you’ve been reading the site or follow Steve and/or me on Twitter, then you know we both kind of loved the hell out of Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I’ve seen the movie twice now and can’t wait to go back for thirds. I’ll most likely be making that third viewing at Friday at 12:01am at one of the film’s many North American midnight showings. Wright has posted a list of the theaters with showing the flick at midnight and we’ve included that list after the jump.

I usually don’t care about box office, but it does affect what kinds of movies get made and the number of projects offered to those involved with a film that has a strong opening weekend. Scott Pilgrim is an explosion of originality and deserves to be rewarded with your coins.

William Baldwin Struck by Tax Debt

Actor William Baldwin and his singer wife Chynna Phillips have been hit with demands from U.S. tax officials after allegedly running up debts more than $180,000. The couple, who married in 1995, owe both state and federal taxes, according to public records obtained by The Detroit News.

A tax lien for $39,561 was filed by the state of California against the couple on March 19, 2009 in Los Angeles, while the Internal Revenue Service is seeking $148,401 from the pair.

Profesionally, William Baldwin started his career by becoming a fashion model. He then made his acting debut when he starred opposite Cindy Crawford in 1995 film "Fair Game." Some movies in which he has starred include "American Fork", "Adrift in Manhattan", "A Plumm Summer" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".

Director Chris Bowman Offers Up a Slice of Humble Pie

Comedies with heart are a weakness of mine. For instance, “World’s Greatest Dad,” while extremely crude and unusual, is impossibly sweet and heartfelt, as is Hal Haberman and Jeremy Passmore’s grossly underrated 2006 superhero flick “Special.” This may explain why I’m drawn to Chris Bowman’s upcoming feature-length debut “Humble Pie” (aka “American Fork”), which is written by “Sasquatch Gang” co-star Hubbel Palmer. What’s more, it’s produced by Jeremy Coon, one of the cinematic wizards behind the creation of “Napoleon Dynamite,” a film that I could literally watch over and over again, nonstop, until the end of time. I kid you not. One of the more interesting aspects of the film is the presence of William Baldwin, who seems to be doing his best Alec Baldwin impersonation. It’s amusing if nothing else. The official synopsis lies below: At nearly 400 pounds, Tracy Orbison (Hubbel Palmer) is a wide target.

Your Holiday Indie Film Preview
2009 is about to end with a bang, though probably not the apocalyptic kind predicted in the long-awaited adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" or Chris Smith's terrifying doc "Collapse," though those will both be playing at your local arthouse. Instead, audiences will be able to enjoy a winter of wildly different indie film offerings to reflect the wildly different tastes of moviegoers as we leave one decade and move into another. (There are also many different ways to watch them, as you can tell from our Anywhere But a Movie Theater section.)

From November through January, there will be musicals ("Nine"), comedies (Broken Lizard's "The Slammin' Salmon") and stop-motion animated wonderments ("A Town Called Panic") to entertain and new films from Michael Haneke, Pedro Almodóvar, Richard Linklater, Terry Gilliam and Werner Herzog to ponder. And if new movies aren't necessarily doing the trick, you can always cozy

Utah teens cited for rapping: I smell a movie pitch!

Four teenagers in American Fork, Utah were recently cited by police for being disorderly in public after they rapped their order at a McDonald's drive-thru window. Could this be the next Footloose? (Or, more accurately, the next next Footloose?) I think it could be. Follow me a second: The four boys were under the thrall of all those endless YouTube videos, both homemade and professional, of people rapping orders at various fast-food drive-thru windows. So they performed their own little rap and what happens? The not-at-all-charmed worker called the cops, saying she felt her "safety" was at risk, and the
