Dr. Elizabeth Weir wakes up in a locked hospital room only to be told that she is in a psychiatric institute on Earth. She's also told that her entire experience on Atlantis was a dream. Even Jack O'Neil professes to have no knowledge of Atlantis or of any such thing as the Stargate program. It all seems to be very real to her. Her mother visits and she even sees her pet dog. She also sees shadows at night that are quite frightening but seem to be trying to communicate with her. She is convinced that her time on Atlantis was real and that it is her current "reality" that is false. Written by garykmcd

Did You Know?

This episode is very similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Normal Again (2002), Charmed: Brain Drain (2001) and Smallville: Labyrinth (2007) all in which a main character is tricked by an antagonist into thinking their reality (and the plot of the series) is an illusion. See more »

During the psychiatric hospital scenes, Weir is seen wearing a robe that has a sash. Normally this would not be permitted out of fear she would hang herself. However, the scenes in which Weir was in hospital, were part of her dream as she lay fighting off the Replicator attack on her body. They were not supposed to depict an actual hospital. Nor were they supposed to depict proper hospital procedure. See more »

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard: Do you think she's aware we're here?
Dr. Rodney McKay: How can she be? She's unconscious.
Dr. Carson Beckett: You may be right. You could try talking to her. Tell her to keep fighting.
Dr. Rodney McKay: And that will help exactly how?
Dr. Carson Beckett: In a coma, one's sense of hearing is the last thing to go and the first thing to return. There are many cases where patients were actually able to hear others talking to them in their rooms.
Dr. Rodney McKay: And were these comas also caused by nanites invading people's bodies? Hmm?
