A man calls Mac to tell him about a body buried in New Jersey years ago. He kills himself after talking to Mac. Mac finds the body and discovers that the person was shot execution style. Mac finds the caller and learns he was a Tanglewood boy. Mac begins by talking to Sonny Sassone who doesn't tell him much. A cigarette found with the body has DNA on it which is identified as Danny's. Mac asks Danny what happened. He says that he was not one of the Tanglewoods but his brother was, and one night about the same time the man was killed he and his brother met the Tanglewoods and it appeared as if they has some guy with them whom they were roughing up. His brother made him leave and that was that. But there's nothing to back Danny's story so Mac relieves him of duty. Mac then talks to Danny's brother and doesn't admit to anything but swears he will find a way to help help Danny. Stella investigates the death of a man who appears to be seeing a call girl. Did You Know?

Allusion to Jimmy Hoffa, after Mac gets a call from a Tanglewood member, confessing to a murder, saying the body was buried in the field of Giants Stadium. One conspiracy theory as to what happened to Jimmy Hoffa, President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (1957-1971), a union, who disappeared in 1975 just before he met with two members of the Mafia, is that he was murdered and buried in the end zone of Giants Stadium in New Jersey. The cigarette butt found in the ground simply wouldn't have existed. It takes, on average, five years for a butt to biodegrade, and a maximum of about 12 years. As this was under a football pitch, that is watered very often, five years would be most likely. See more »

Gary and Carmine bring me to tears
10 July 2006 | by See all my reviews

Nice to see such intense character driven scenes on a CSI Show. Would love to see more! I believe that episodes like Run Silent Run Deep would benefit from a one story episode as the secondary story line does not leave the time to get into the depth of a story like this. Perhaps the producers should consider not cramming 2 story lines into an episode with so much story to tell. The performance by Carmine will be one I remember and I hope that we will see more story lines bringing the characters back story to the front line. I hope the 3rd season will bring more of this kind of episode because this viewer needs more than scientist exploring a crime scene to keep her engaged. As we come to know the characters outside of the crime scene we are pulled into the show in a very addictive way.
