Trivia

Homer justifies wearing a short sleeve shirt with a tie with the statement "But Sipowicz does it." This is a reference to Dennis Franz as Detective Andy Sipowicz on the ABC police drama "NYPD Blue" (1993-2005). Franz guest starred as himself in the season 6 episode 'Homer Badman,' in which he played Homer Simpson in the FOX TV movie "Homer S.: Portrait of an Ass Grabber." See more »

Quotes

Mr. Burns: Who is that lavatory links man, Smithers?
Waylon Smithers: Homer Simpson, sir. One of the fork and spoon operators from sector 7-G.
Mr. Burns: Well, he's certainly got a loose waggle. Perhaps I've finally found a golfer worthy of a match with Monty Burns, eh?
Waylon Smithers: His waggle is no match for yours, sir. I've never seen you lose a game. Except for that one in '74 when you let Richard Nixon win. That was very kind of you, sir.

One of the Weaker Episodes of the Seventh Season, but Still Filled with Laughs,
8 April 2014 | by See all my reviews

Scenes from the Classic Struggle in Springfield is a great Simpsons episode with a very enjoyable storyline and plenty of very funny scenes. It is certainly one of the weaker episodes of the seventh season, which is without a doubt filled with some of the best episodes in the series history, but this isn't one of them.I think episodes where Marge is the center of attention are usually not as good, mainly because Homer,Bart and Lisa are just stronger characters with a bigger personality, not that there aren't great episodes with Marge at the center, but probably the least out of the the family. The funniest parts of this episode without a doubt come from Homer,he has several memorable and hilarious lines and his side story was certainly the episodes highlight.Scenes from the Classic Struggle in Springfield is probably the worst of the seventh season, but it's still a great episode.

After changing her looks,Marge is given the opportunity to join a country club, but is worried her family will embarrass her.Meanwhile,Homer plays golf at the club with Mr Burns, who is suspiciously great at the sport.
