This was a very difficult episode to produce, as it involved creating an entirely new environment, which meant large amounts of writing and all new sets. See more »

Quotes

Park Manager: There's no need to murmur, ma'am. Here at Itchy and Scratchy Land, we're just as concerned with violence as you are. That's why we're always careful to show the consequences of deadly mayhem, so that we may educate as well as horrify.
Marge: When do you show the consequences? On TV, that mouse pulled out that cat's lungs and played them like a bagpipe, but in the next scene, the cat was breathing comfortably.
Park Manager: Just like in real life.

Alternate Versions

The Season 6 episode "Itchy and Scratchy Land" was heavily censored in Australia, and was not shown in full until 1999. Shots cut included crowds laughing as blood poured over them, Bart smashing a second camera shop window and several cut scenes from when The Simpsons take the 'Log Ride'. About a dozen censored scenes reduced the running time of the episode by two minutes down to 21 minutes. See more »

The Simpsons don't get much better than this
2 January 2008 | by iksnyzcarSee all my reviews

This has to be one of my favorite episodes. It is from season 6 where the show was really firing on all cylinders.

As you can guess from its title this is another vacation episode where surprise surprise they go to Itchy & Scratchy Land. There are a lot of parodies in this one including Jurasice Park, West World, and The Birds. Itchy & Scratchy Land itself parodies Disney World and Pleasure Island. Lots of classic scenes makes this episode a must see for any Simpsons fan(even though by now I don't think there are any that haven't seen this episode at least a dozen times).

So if you haven't seen this episode yet do yourself a favor and buy Season 6 on DVD.
