Princeton and Yale Football Game (1903)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Obviously there wasn't any television during this period so the only way people could see popular football games was through movie studios filming them. As the title clearly states, this here features Princeton and Yale doing battle on the field and clocks in at four minutes, which was fairly long for this period. This film will certainly appeal to football buffs who enjoy watching this early footage of the sport during this period. Sadly the camera really doesn't get too close to the action and the print is in such poor condition that you really can't get too much detail out of the uniforms or even all the crowd shots. This is certainly worth watching if you enjoy the sport, although it's clearly not a masterpiece.
