not a transsexual?

Transsexual people do not always want to the 'fullest extent'. Yes, some do experience harsh dysphoria which may lead to the affirmation of their bodies, but many trans people, like myself, do not wish to alter our bodies. Just because we do not wish to change out bodies does not mean we are any less trans, it can mean that we are comfortable with our bodies. Some trans people do not wish to lose visibility within the trans or LGBTQ community, not all transsexuals want to become 'stealth'. Personally I would not go through the surgeries because we do not get a good enough result from the irreversible operation, there are many reasons why transsexuals to not go through transition to the fullest extent, but this does not make them any less transsexual. Of course she was hesitant to the surgery, hell i would be freaking out! such a step in transition is massive, if she is comfortable with her bottom half then that is why she would be hesitant, why change something that you are not completely opposed to? If you can live a happy fulfill-full life as you are then you have the chance to sacrifice that happiness. And not all drag performers are homosexuals, it can also be simply a fetish. I feel it is important to recognize the that Alexis Arquette is a woman. When referring to women it is appropriate to use terms such as she and her among other appropriate pronouns. She is an exciting women and I respect her decision to not enlighten us in every aspect of her life. What matter are these facts to us? This surgery is not paramount in life to many trans people, I included. The first year is the most difficult story to tell and I think we are privileged to have someone share their story with us. The transgender story is a risky one to share as there are so few opportunities for the audience to have a frame of reference to recognize the subtleties that incarnate the drama. I am not surprised or disappointed that many do not "get it." This movie is a needed platform to provide tools other than our imagination to recognizing just another human condition.
