A very informative, if overlong documentary.

Available as an extra on the latest DVD edition of "Fly Away Home".

This is an amateur documentary directed by its subject, Bill Lishman. For someone not generally interested in birds or wildlife, it has limited appeal. To be honest, it has a low level of interest even for many nature lovers, as it revolves exclusively around Lishman's projects. But as a personal diary, it's quite interesting. Bill Lishman narrates the story himself, although he tends to stumble quite often, making his value as a narrator limited to the fact of his personal connection.

Clocking in at just over 45 minutes, much of the footage proves to be redundant. For anyone familiar with "Fly Away Home", the video-grade cinematography of the birds in flight doesn't add enough to justify it's length. Regardless, Lishman captures some stunning vistas within his technical limits.
