- This episode is a revised version of the test pilot, with different characters and actors. Ann's agent, Harvey Peck, thinks that she should change her name to something more appropriate for an actress, as people are constantly asking him "'Ann Marie' what?" Ann does not like the idea, knowing how much it would upset her parents. As she predicted, Ann's father is furious with the idea, and will not speak to her unless her name is 'Ann Marie'. Ann has to decide soon - she has a part on a television show and needs to choose what name will appear for her in the credits.—A Girl
- Ann, working as a waitress to make ends meet, is excited to learn from her agent, Harvey Peck, that she has gotten her first real acting job, a small role in a television drama. This job brings up an issue that has been previously discussed between the two: assuming a stage name, as the name "Ann Marie" always brings up the question "Ann-Marie what?" That new name has to be for this job so that casting agents, directors and the public will know her solely by that new name from the get-go. The problem is that she knows her parents, especially her father, will not like the idea of her abandoning the name she was given by them. Donald comes up with a compromise stage name that Ann, Judy and Leon like that may appease her father: Marie Brewster - Marie as it's her current last name, and Brewster being her hometown. Ann decides to pitch the idea to her parents. Both her parents don't want her to change her name, period. While Helen just doesn't like the idea of the name change, Lew threatens to disown Ann if she uses any name besides Ann Marie. Ann has to decide if her parent's blessing is more important than a memorable stage name.—Huggo
