I guess it was funny to audiences in 1992, but to have sex in the kitchen next to where the food is being prepared for your dinner guests who are waiting in the next room is revolting. In reality the guests would all have left in disgust before they emerged from the kitchen.

    I haven't seen this for 30 years???

I used to watch this...but good lord...I was 12 when this came out...so whether I watched it at 12 or around age 17 or so on reruns... no clue.

But...my tastes have changed...been exposed to other things...so I have no idea if this will hold up...if I'll appreciate it etc...and how long it takes the show to hit its stride.

I usually don't even pay attention to season 1 or 2 of something as the show still figures out what it's going to be.

So...starting off...eh. It is almost like I'm watching it brand new for the first time.

But...some of the mannerisms and line deliveries I do remember are evident in the first episode.

    I think I'd have to give this a 5.

Def not a 7, and 6 would be too generous.

It's fine...but my ratings are based a lot on rewatchability.

Once I finish this, def not something I would want or need to watch over again.

Not big enough laughs that would make me want or need to see it again anytime soon.

    Maybe in another 30 years????

    What great fun

It's been 27 years since I got hooked on "Mad About You." Don't know if I saw every episode of its 7-year run, but if not I'm going to try to now. Paul Reiser & Helen Hunt have great chemistry in this show. The banter and dialogue is wonderful. The backup characters add a sense of equilibrium that may or may not be needed, but it is crazy humorous in its own way. Don't remember if LOL was a thing back then, but constant LOLing. So many if not all sitcoms are based on humor...rightfully so. This is a combination of humor and good old fun. I hope to get thru every episode before it is taken off On Demand. Thanks for bringing it back. I'm happy exists now that I can rate and comment on this great show.

This review was written and published by the late Myk Sealy ~'97-'03 on his personal site hosted by Lycos. I am just a fan who wants to preserve his reviews.

This is a wonderful introduction to one of the best romantic comedy tv series ever. There are plenty of memorable lines (later used on the "Final Frontier" soundtrack disc), the characters establish themselves early and you can see what a great series it will become. Plus, there is that delightful aspect of romance, which is, of course, the cornerstone of Mad About You. I still can't figure out why they got rid of Selby (played by Tommy Hinkley). He was quite funny, too. It took me nearly 4 years to get this episode on tape (I didn't start taping until midway through the second season), and it was worth the wait. A great beginning.
