The daily mail brings its usual batch of good news and trauma. Colonel Potter finds out that he is about to become a grandfather and spends the day trying to find out whether or not his daughter-in-law has delivered his grandchild. Radar gets a home movie from his mom in Iowa, which causes Radar to shed a few tears. However, the most emotionally troubling mail is for Frank as his wife reveals that she found out about his affair with Margaret and informs him that she is filing for divorce.
It's another mail call: Potter gets a letter from his son, the dentist; he and his wife, Jeanine, are having their first child. The baby is a week late. Radar sets up a pool on date, sex and weight; Potter thinks he is getting a 9 lb. grandson on the 21st. Hotlips gets a package from Frederick's of Hollywood; Father gets a letter from his sister, Angelica, the nun. Hawkeye gets the Crabapple Cove newspaper; BJ gets 3 letters from Peggy and 1 from "Waggles" Hunnicutt, the dog. Frank gets a letter (it accidentally steamed open) which is the kicker: Louise found out all about Hotlips and wants a divorce. Radar is trying to get a call through to Ohio to check on Jeanine; Frank demands to be allowed to call Louise. But there is only 1 line to Korea because of the parade for Syngman Rhee, who has just been elected dictator once again. Klinger tries to get out of the Army. Frank gets a call through to Indiana; he asks to use Potter's phone while Margaret eavesdrops on Radar's headset. The gang watches home movies sent by Radar's family. Potter finds out he is a grandfather: an 8.5 lb baby girl born on the 23rd named Sherry Pershing Potter. Klinger wears a castaway negligee from Frederick's as they smoke cigars and toast the infant. Will Margaret ever go on night maneuvers with Frank again?
Colonel Potter finds out that he's about to become a grandfather, and Major Burns learns that his wife knows about his affair with Margaret--and wants a divorce.
