Episode 1.1

The first episode starts of well. An explosion in West Germany, Michael Shannon glides in as wily Israeli agent Kurtz trying to figure who did it and how to catch the main man. A Palestinian who is the Mozart of bomb making.

Unfortunately when Shannon is absent the drama gets bogged down. Florence Pugh is Charlie, a radical left wing British actress who is attempted to be turned for the Israelis by the mysterious Becker (Alexander Skarsgård) sent by Kurtz on a mission. At least we get some wonderful scenes in the Acropolis at night to make up for the mind numbing dialogue between the two. When the line 'International man of mystery' was said I am sure everyone started to think of Austin Powers!

The Little Drummer Girl is an adaptation of John le Carré's novel from 1983. It is set in 1979 as Palestinian freedom fighter Khalil is bombing Jewish targets in Europe. In Charlie, John le Carré gives us a female protagonist but so far she failed to hold my attention like Martin Kurtz.

Loved it.

It's comforting to know that there is still an appetite for the work of the great John Le Carre.

The Little drummer girl isn't a story I know at all, so I'm watching it blind as it were. It's great to see that the BBC isn't afraid to make intelligent drama, and put it out at prime time.

It was dramatic, fast paced, truly brilliant. I loved Florence Pugh. 9/10

Chalie is attractive character. naive, strong, intelligent, progressive, and passionate.

All location is good enough to enjoy the view.

Le carre's spy theme is still moving thriller.
