Ray Hewitt, a shell-shocked Vietnam Veteran, returns home to find piece of mind when he instead finds himself on another battlefield, the family living room. Although Ray's only solace comes from the 24 hour News Channel, Ray's niece and nephews decide to stand their ground when it comes to their after school programming. Adding to Ray's frustrations are the loud and obnoxious neighbors (the Humphries family) led by their patriarch, Manny, his dim witted son, Jimmy, and their pet rooster. When Ray's two long lost sons from Vietnam show up, Ray has had just about all he can handle. While the forces of small town USA ignite Ray's old trauma and threaten to push him over the edge, the strain of Ray's visit may be just what both families need to realize the importance of one another. Living With Uncle Ray
4 May 2008 | by See all my reviews

Living with Uncle Ray was both hysterical and entertaining. Although you can feel for Ray's discomfort with being a Vietnam veteran and having to adapt to a family life, the situation quickly becomes extremely comical. With Ray's niece and nephews irritated with his constant control over the television, they concoct a few plans to distract him while they attempt to regain possession of their coveted television. The scene where Ray gets a new "motorcycle" is hilarious. I won't forget the line, "She's some piece of machinery right there." Of course, once you throw the Humphries and their aggravating pet rooster into the mix, things become even more comical. And then another twist...Ray's sons? You'll just have to watch to see where this tale ends up going and what becomes of its beloved characters.
