Storyline

Following the events of Alien vs. Predator, and the maturation of the chestburster that erupted from the body of Scar (the Predator that defeated the Alien Queen) into an adult Predalien, the Predator scout ship crashes in the woods of Gunnison County. A local, Buddy Benson, and his son, Sam, are hunting in the forest and witness the crash, but they are chased and are implanted with alien embryos by facehuggers along with several homeless people living in the sewers. Meanwhile another Predator lands seeking out the Alien and destroying evidence of their presence on Earth. The dwellers of the town find themselves in the middle of a battlefield between the two deadly extraterrestrial creatures, and the small group of survivors splits between the leadership of Sheriff Eddie Morales and the bad-boy Dallas Howard. Both have different opinions about the best means to escape from the beings. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Trivia

It was at one time hoped to include shots of the Aliens' homeworld as the closing scene of the movie. Conceptual art was created, and it was even storyboarded, but ultimately, the idea was dropped, in favor of using it in a potential third film. This never materialized after the critical and commercial failure of the film, with the studio deciding to abandon the AVP franchise in favor of the Alien (1979) prequels Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017). Not only did these movies largely ignore AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) and AvP: Requiem, they also implied that the Aliens may have been genetically engineered, and therefore don't have an original homeworld. Blood and Guts
26 December 2007 | by ignorepeterSee all my reviews

I was psyched to go see this movie. I was not a fan of the first AvP and I like so many others, chalked its awfulness up to being rated PG 13 and focusing on the human side of the story. Once I saw that red R glistening after the AvP, I was excited. As it turns out, I was wrong. Certainly there is a good amount of gore in AvPR, melting limbs, dismemberments, even some violence against children. The Predator is once again, the most bad-ass extraterrestrial on Earth, and it was fun to see the infamous predalien. But the movie just sucks. I tried really hard to look past its gaping plot holes, inane dialogue, and vapid characters, and I pretty much succeeded in not letting those inadequacies bother me. It was the pacing and the lack of tension that killed the movie for me. There was no sense of dread in the flick, no impending doom or even a sense of diabolical hunt. It just, sort of, happened, and then was over. Some fun homages to the originals: amongst them the return of the all-time great line: "Get to the chopper!" And again, some fun blood and executions, but no tension, no dread, no guts in the otherwise bloody film.
